Re: YOUR Server Issues Causing Abandoned Game Penalty

And like a complete idiot, I spent $150 bucks for the Caustic skin... but the issue remains - Lagging out of a ranked match causes abandoned penalty.  Happens DAILY.

Lag out.
"Game may have ended"
"Unable to connect to game server."
"10:00 min penalty"

Never again will I spend.  I'm done unless Respawn can make it right with me.

    Hey @HRSegovia,

    Sorry to hear you're having this many issues getting that abandon penalty. This happening so regularly is absolutely not typical behavior, so we'd want to try going through some troubleshooting steps to see if we can improve this for you.

    Have you tried any particular troubleshooting steps so far, even the basics like power cycling your router to see if there's any change? Are you on a wired or wireless connection currently?

    I'd definitely suggest going through these troubleshooting steps, in particular those to flush and/or change your DNS. Let us know if you're still running into trouble afterwards, or which specific steps you've already taken, thanks!

  • I am wired, and most of these steps are things that happen on a regular basis anyway (Restarting XBOX, resetting router) and some steps I've taken as a troubleshooting tactic (reinstalling client).  Being on an XBOX, flushing the DNS isn't an option.  But yes, the problem is persistent and constant.

    Thanks for letting me know what you've already gone through, @HRSegovia.

    Can you try using a different DNS to see if that improves things for you?

    This can be done on Xbox using these steps

    It may also help to try clearing the Alternative Mac Address with the following:

    1. Press Start at the main Xbox menu.
    2. Navigate to Settings.
    3. Select Network Settings, Advanced Settings, Alternative Mac Address, and finally Clear.
    4. Restart and shut down the Xbox. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the console and wait two minutes.

    You'll also want to check the following ports have been opened on your router. This is not an EA site, but should have steps to walk you through that process for most router models.

  • Testing.  I'll return in the next few days and let you know.

  • This is the dumbest “I’m doing my job” answer. Your servers have been dropping players regularly since the “abandon penalty” was introduced. How are we 4-5 seasons later and your server is still penalizing players for its own faults

    the penalty was great in the beginning but now it’s the actual game that is dropping players and still penalizing

  • Its youre servers. When you guys in EA realise The. They cant handle The amount of players on season relese or when there is event going on

  • This is still a thing after all this time.  DNS did not solve the issue.  It is not me.  It's EA servers.  As promised, I haven't spent any money on this game since my post and still refuse to until I can play at least ONE season of ranked without an unjust abandon penalty.
