Something Went Wrong! Prime Gaming Link Issue

For months now I have been trying to claim content for Apex Legends from Prime Gaming but have been unable to successfully link the accounts. Unfortunately EA does not recognize the problem and the only time I was even offered the opportunity to chat with someone they told me to wait a week and closed my ticket before then.

When I try to link the accounts to claim the content on the final page after I’ve pressed “Link Accounts” after signing into EA, I am returned the error “Something went wrong!”  When I check my EA account, I can see that there is no Twitch account affiliated with my EA account. I’ve even used EA’s unlink tool to verify that I am not linked and not showing it, but no matter how many times I have repeated these steps I am making no progress.

has anyone experienced this issue before?

Hmm, gotcha. It sounds like the issue may be on the EA Account side, but unfortunately we don't have the ability to look into account issues here on Answers HQ. I can only recommend getting in touch with the EA Help team so they can take a look.

For more information on how to set up a case with them check out the EA Help website. If you prefer you can also speak with them over Twitter or Facebook as well.

  • Still having the same issue tried with ea support, but they just don't care I had prime for months now and didn't get a single pack from it.

    Pathetic

  • i have ea desktop open and it still doesnt work.. really EA wtf are you doing? mocking us?

  • I did all the steps EAHelp want me to do and as always it didn't work. So far I did ;

    A-
    1. Uninstall Origin and Apex
    2. Redownload above
    3.Install update/ login to origin
    4. Launch Apex.
    5. Close Apex.
    6. Unlink/relink EA to Twitch.
    7. Relaunch Apex and you should get all the skins you have claimed.
    B-
I used different IPs, different devices to get my skins. Mobile data, etc.
    C-
    1. Clear cache of origin
    2. Close background tasks
    3. Run C Cleaner
    4. Uninstall Origin
    5. Reinstall Origin
    6. Flush DNS Caches
    7. Clean boot
    D-
Tried to claim a  different EA reward from prime gaming.
Basically, I did everything they throw my way. But it didn't work.

And finally, I got an honest answer from EA Help which I include in this message. If you are having this problem, you should know this is on their end. Not yours. I have been trying to fix this issue since last year. And this was the first honest answer.

I also had the same issue. I tried everything to connect my Prime Gaming account to my EA account for two days, used different web browsers, used my mobile phone, cleared the cache, logged out and logged in, reset my router, removed all connections and reconnect, contacted with 2 EA advisors and did everything they told me to do but nothing worked. I always get the same "something went wrong" error after entering my verification code.

Then yesterday, I thought it could be a verification issue and changed my verification settings and then used another computer  which I have never used before to link my accounts and it worked. Successfully linked my prime gaming to my EA account as you can see from the attached picture. Find below what I did step by step.

    - Signed in ea.com and clicked account settings. Filled the empty slots at the "About Me" tab and then from the Security tab I changed my verification mode to Mobile App Authenticator. (make sure Login Verification is turned ON). A QR code generated to connect my account to the authenticator (keep the page open)

    - Downloaded Google Authenticator to my android mobile phone from Play Store and added my EA account to the authenticator by scanning the QR code given at the previous step.

    - Signed out from twitch, amazon gaming and EA at my computer

    - Using my dad's computer which I have never used before I first signed in to twitch.tv then from the "Prime Gaming Loot" section up right I choosed FIFA 21: Prime Gaming Pack (you can select another Electronic Arts game loot). It took me to Prime Gaming web site and I signed in. Clicked the "Claim Now" button on the loot and a small window popped up, and then clicked "Go To EA" button from the "Link Game Account" section below. (If you have already claimed the loot then "link game account" section won't be show up, in this case you can claim any other Electronic Arts game loot that you haven't claimed before to show it up)

     - I was redirected to the EA Account sign-in page and I signed in with my ID and password. Asked me the verification method and I choosed Google Authenticator instead of my e-mail.

     - Opened Google Authenticator and a six digit code was created, typed this code to my EA verification page opened in the previous step.

    - A menu popped up and there I allowed EA to access my Prime Gaming membership.

    - Was ready to see "something went wrong" message but this time it worked and accounts succesfully linked.

I solved my problem after all, and hope this will work for you too.

Thx for your guide and tips. I tried your solution except another computer i just tried it in incognito modes. Unfortunatelly it didn't work for me. In EA support they told me they will create a bug for it but how am I going to track it ?

  • So nearly 2 years later, hours spent with EA's support chat linking me their official FAQs I canm just read anyway and Amazon just straight up not responding the issue is still alive and kicking. And after a literal day of back and forth between tech support and me all I got was "just post on the forums".

    This makes me angry.

Edit: Oh and if it wasn't clear from my initial response - the above solution? *. I'm glad it worked for some, but it sure as hell did not work for me.

Same issue here in 2023... EA support only writes automatic messages.
Has anyone been able to fix it since then?
