Strange Connection Issues

I've been having a large issue trying to play apex on my pc as of late. Every single time I land from dropship at the beginning of the game, I get hit with a massive lag spike that lasts minimum a minute and a half. The primary icon that shows up during this time is the packet loss symbol, but sometimes all of the other symbols will show up too. It's characterized by the landing animation lagging and getting delayed during the transition between dropping and first person, all other players being locked in place for a second or two before teleporting to where they actually are, item pickups taking a few seconds to actually register, and aim animations becoming janky and slow. It makes fighting other players near impossible. This happens primarily at the start of the game, but sometimes it will occur again in the middle or towards the end of the game. Most of the time though, if I can survive the first lag spike, I can play perfectly fine for the rest of the game.

One of the weirdest parts about this though is that it is exclusive to this specific pc, and exclusive to this game. None of my other multiplayer games have this sort of lag spike, and playing the game on my laptop results in the game running perfectly fine. Even stranger is that everything indicates that there is no connection issues at all prior to actually going in game. Apex servers show low ping and no packet loss, despite it being almost the opposite once I actually try to play a match. I've been trying to fix this issue for several days now, and it's starting to be incredibly frustrating to try and solve. And before one of the support guys goes and tells me to do the EA help connection troubleshooting, I've already done all of those things, save for messing with the router/port forwarding, since the router is not mine and I am not allowed to mess with it. But this probably isn't the source of the issue anyways due to the game running fine on my laptop, which is connected to the same router. I'll throw in the UOTrace that I did as well, but everything seems normal to me for that, no issues.

I really want to be able to have fun playing this game on my pc, but these connection issues are making it incredibly difficult. If anyone knows what this problem is and how to go about fixing it, that help would be much appreciated.

  • @Xeothian Apex issues! I'm on xbox and the bugs that have caused apex to freeze etc have naffed my xbox! Had to factory reset today and remove the latest update due to it messing up the console! Reinstalled trying to see if it was an issue my side and nope, still freezing, rubber banding and generally not letting me play a single game! Don't go spending your hard earned cash just yet! Wait for a new patch because somethings gone wrong their side as so many people have been reporting issues in the past 72 hours by the looks of it

Another update, another disappointment. Still no response other than "did you do all of this?" despite me going out and saying "yeah I did all of this" afterwards. This problem is still occurring and it just seems to be getting worse with time. If anyone has any idea what is causing this, please tell me. Any solution I've found thus far has only ever resulted in a merely temporary fix.

  • @EzyHawk I don't know if you have checked back on this since you asked me what the problem was, but I've tried just about everything and nothing has solved my issues. I believe the problem is with my wifi adapter, but I don't know what could possibly be the issue or how to solve it. If you could at least give me some direction on this issue that would help greatly.

@Xeothian I'm sorry for the late respond have had alot going on since i'm in the middle of a move.

However please send me an update on what you've tried so far.
  • @EzyHawk I have tried everything in the normal troubleshooting guide except port forwarding with my router, and resetting my router. However, I can reasonably still conclude that it is a problem specifically with this PC, as at the time of writing this I had just tested on my laptop and the game connects fine. I'd much prefer being able to get the game working on my PC again as it is more comfortable for me to play on it. Aside from the troubleshooting tips given in the guide, I have tried reinstalling both apex and origin to no avail. I've tried a cold boot, several resets and repairs of the game, giving apex priority in task manager, etc etc.

I think it might be a problem with my Wifi adapter, but I am still unsure of that.

@Xeothian If nothing worked, could you please verify if you have tried to do a clean install of windows?
Sometimes this might help, however if you think it could be the wifi adapter, have you tried using a cable?
    Or tried another wifi adapter?
