If youre on a linux distro, im sad to report that those of us that are using linux can no longer play, it is now windows only pretty much): i guess a lot of the cheating loop holes and whatnot were coming from people using linux, so they have blocked the OS entirely (hopefully until it is figured out)
Im using lubuntu and started getting that same error, so if you are on a linux distro thats why.

I will quote one of the other Heros here @E9ine_AC "Hey there, EA nor Respawn have ever supported linux. This operating system is not used for apex. The only reason it had seen updates is due to steam decks default operating system coming as linux. Now that they can have windows put on them there is no need for linux anymore.
So when you see updates be made it was purely for the steam deck and nothing more. It was not to support that operating system in general but to support steam decks operating system at that time."
