tos team

My close friend got her account banned for allegedly "cheating", She spent thousands of Euros on it and countless hours, we play a lot together almost every day, She just came home and found out that she received an Email from EA saying that she got banned for cheating, after contacting TOS team they doubled down and replied saying that the account ban was correct and the case is closed...

We read the terms of service notes (I copied them from your official website here: https://help.ea.com/en/help/account/information-about-locked-or-banned-or-suspended-accounts/ ):

Why did my account get banned or suspended?

We’ll ban, suspend, or sanction accounts when we see any inappropriate content or evidence of cheating. We’ll also take action against any account that posts vulgar, threatening, or harassing content in any EA game or on any EA website.

Cheating includes but isn’t limited to:

  • using third-party software, such as aimbots, wallhacks, and other similar cheats to gain an unfair advantage over other players
  • performing in-game exploits or abusing glitches or bugs
  • stat padding (abusing game features in an unintended manner to artificially stack on scores)
  • win-trading or otherwise manipulating in-game ranking systems with the collaboration of others
  • using software or cheat tools that disconnect other players from the EA servers.

- First of all, she does not really know much about tech stuff, where to download cheats, how to install them and let alone how to use them...

- She does not know any exploits or glitches to abuse, we play all the time and we literally die almost off spawn every time.

- Her stats and k/d are very low, you can check her matches history to see that she barely does any damage or get a few kills.

- We barely play ranked, and her rank is low still.

- She does not even know what DDOS mean, and has no clue how people can manipulate servers and disconnect players

We did not want to reach out to the TOS team immediately again after they replied saying the case is closed, because we have been told that we only have 3 tries before the case is pretty much done for good...

Once again, we ran into cheaters before, some of them got banned live, some of them did not, I looked around and apparently many people got banned for no reason, some of them contacted the TOS team and got their accounts unbanned, some of them just kept getting the same reply and their accounts are permanently banned now, no clue why.

It is unfair to ban players just for playing your game fairly, putting so much time and effort into them, and also paying thousands and thousands on Euros on skins, cosmetics and bundles. I asked her many times if she had done anything that violates the TOS mentioned above, and she said no, she just got home, opened steam and tried to play and found out that her account was gone, I even checked my account and her user is gone.

Mistakes happen, she got falsely banned for cheating, it is not the end of the world, but the fact that after messaging the TOS team and getting an Email saying something among the lines of "yes the ban is correct and the case is closed" it shows that they do not really care about their player base...

Players are what make your game popular, we keep supporting you by playing your game and putting money into it, and this is what we get rewarded with... I am writing this from my account because my friend is too depressed and desperate to even try and get the account back, or even talk to me, so I am asking nicely if there is someone I can reach out to or live chat with from the TOS team, that actually investigates her case and unban her.

If anyone can help that would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately the EA staff who work here on AHQ cannot help your friend directly with account-related issues, such as bans, nor can live chat, only the TOS team can help.

All the available information relating to your friend's ban would have been communicated to her via the email associated with her EA account.

She can also check out her ban history here, but please note not all bans may appear here:

    https://help.ea.com/en/my-ban-history/

If she feels she has been incorrectly banned, the only thing she can do is to dispute any action taken against her EA account by following the steps in this article:

    https://help.ea.com/en/help/account/information-about-banned-or-suspended-accounts/

There is also this EA guide on bans and suspensions :

    https://help.ea.com/en/help/account/electronic-arts-account-suspension-policy/#:~:text=A%20suspension%20is%20when%20we,a%20certain%20period%20of%20time.

It is my understanding that she can appeal a ban a number of times, up to 3. I would urge her to do so.

    Best of luck.

We have already used one ban appeal, and she is too scared to use another and then she only has 1 left, I have been trying so hard the past few days to convince her to do it, but many others did advice her not to contact them back immediately, because they said the same team will probably review the case and give the same judgment.

We can provide whatever is needed to prove it, we play fairly and by the rules, I even have screenshots of our scores and she has very low damage and kills.

You mentioned that you urge her to use her 3 ban appeals, we do not know if we should use them instantly, or wait some time before appealing again and hope they look into the problem and unban her.

I have gotten many friends to try this game out and spend money on it, we love your game and enjoy it, and we expect things like this to be solved and carefully looked into before getting declined like that.

Once again, she has never violated any of the terms of service and we are sure she was falsely banned, but we do not know  how to convince the TOS team, and as mentioned, we are ready to provide whatever is needed.
