Apex Legends freezes randomly after September update
Hello,
Since the Apex Legends update around September 17, 2026, my game has been randomly freezing during matches and sometimes in the lobby.
When the freeze occurs:
- The game image freezes completely, but Windows continues working normally.
- Alt+Tab works, and I can switch to other applications.
- Game audio sometimes continues playing in the background.
- Sometimes the CPU briefly spikes to 100% at the moment of the freeze.
- The issue occurs on different Apex accounts.
- Other games, including Fortnite, work normally.
My PC specifications:
- CPU: Intel Core i5-7400
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
- RAM: 16GB DDR4 2400MHz
- OS: Windows 10, version 22H2 (build 19045)
- NVIDIA driver: 582.78
Troubleshooting already attempted:
- Completely formatted both drives and performed a clean Windows installation.
- Reinstalled the NVIDIA driver.
- Tested DX11.
- Tested different Apex accounts.
- Tried FPS limiting and lower texture streaming budget.
- Tried different DX12 launch parameters.
- Tested without my Focusrite audio interface connected.
- Disabled SteelSeries Spatial Audio and changed Apex audio settings.
- Ran GPU stress tests without errors; GPU temperature remained within normal limits.
- Tested launching through Steam and EA app.
The issue persists after all these tests.
I also previously found an EA AntiCheat crash in Windows Reliability Monitor:
- Application: eaanticheat.gameservice.exe
- Exception code: c0000374 (STATUS_HEAP_CORRUPTION)
I cannot confirm whether this is related to the Apex freezes.
Could you investigate whether this may be a game-side issue introduced by the September update, particularly involving DX12 or the graphics rendering pipeline?
Thank you.
