I like it, just wished the "spots" lasted just a tick or two longer is all.

I like manual 3D spotting but dislike automatic minimap spotting after shooting. We also need stealth perks to counteract sensor balls and UAV scans.
Spotting does not seem as precise as before. Also I can never tell if the vehicle that I am trying to spot is actually being spotted.
What happened to the green "Go here" marker? I can not do it anymore on PS5.

Distant spots are barely visible. Literally almost invisible.
You get a vague flicker of a red dot - and that’s only when you look away from the target and put it in your peripheral vision. - doubleome3 years agoSeasoned Ace
3D spotting as a feature might not be a bad thing although I personally hate it. The issue I guess with 2042 is that there are just way way way too many options for spotting players even includes auto spotting when aiming close or near enemies, long are the days of hiding in a bush or cover...... Combine this with more players in smaller fighting spaces and much more open much with clear views there is just spotting going on constantly.
I feel the red chemlights are often more then enough to spot your enemies when it comes to bad visibility in modern games, I think it's more then fine in 2042 and doesn't need 3D spotting for that reason.
- RaginSam3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Tank2042Man I like it overall, at times it can feel a little cheap. Visually it can be really hard to see enemies, even in the open because of the colors, so it’s a bandaid for that. It’s an easy and intuitive way to communicate with your teammates. I think that it adds more to the game then it takes away. Battlefield has never been about camping somewhere for a long time without being detected.
However, I thought BFV’s implementation was probably the best. It was a perk that allowed certain classes to spot? The flare was perfectly balanced. Soon as you went behind cover, the spot would disappear. BFV had it nailed down to a science I thought. Spotting was limited, balanced, and it made a lot sense.
BF2042 has the break line of sight to make it the spot disappear. I’m not sure what my teammates see exactly? Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one spotting on my team. I’m pretty sure that has some truth to it because I almost always get the highest assist in matches.
They could also further balance spotting by making it only visible to teammates within 200 meters or whatever. I’d also be concerned that would cost more CPU performance or performance somewhere else? Little features can add up and make the game less stable and smooth. I could be very wrong on this though. - Aquila_Invictus3 years agoNew Traveler
yeah I am seeing pretty much the same, when spotting with a drone as Casper I get the XP from spotting but the red markers either do not show on the enemy or the appear for a spilt second and go away. My clan mates say that the spotted targets do not show for them either. I have also noticed that the friendly dots are only showing now if you are near them. Something seems like it got broken with markers in this last patch.

According to the notes the location marker was removed:
- Pressing the ping button once will no longer place a location ping, but instead check for targets such as soldiers, vehicles or objects near the point of that placed ping.
- @ElliotLH That is too bad. I thought it was a useful tool.

@Skill4Reel Same here. I could swear I placed one last night, but I've been fiddling this morning and can't do it again, so assume it wasn't meant to happen.
*Edit: I somehow managed to replicate getting the green marker. It's at the end of this video:
