Error/Bug - This software cannot be used at the same time as the game

Hello,

I'm playing Battlefield 2042 on PC for quite some time without any issue. Last night I have installed the game on my PS5 and played a bit, all was good - but now when I want to play the game on my PC, I face this error (see attached). What should I do to fix this? Now I can play the game only on my PS5 but not on my PC.

    So after I asked ChatGPT (yeah, I know), he told me to search for any programs on my PC that comes from Publisher: DiscSoft because that's the error about.

    This software cannot be used at the same time as the game. Please make sure it's not running, or restart your PC. (84): DiscSoftLTD

    So I've found Daemon Tools and uninstalled it. Now the game works. Also, you have to uninstall ReWASD if you have.

    So basically the game or anticheat doesnt like apps coming from that DiscSoft publisher and won't let you start the game. If you have any programs like DAEMON Tools, ReWASD or Astroburn you can't play the game.

    This is solved, not a technical solution but a workaround.

    I do not have Daemon Tools anywhere on my PC and nothing is loading for me. Plz fix this!

    I have the same issue with BF6 and I've uninstalled Daemon tools, removed everything I can see with it and Discsoft including the drive in device manager and still I get the error. 

    Do you still have this error months later? As I'm now looking at a game I cannot play.

    For anyone still experiencing this issue I just ran into it with Battlefield 1 on my pc and i didn't have the tools installed but my solution ended up being there were devices in the Device manager under: Storage Controllers, Universal Serial Bus Controllers and System Devices. After uninstalling those and also checking off the box that says force to uninstall drivers I was able to get it working. Seems like an issue with these Daemon tools not full uninstalling when uninstalled so thats fin
