Doesn't work for this issue. Disabling Webroot that is. I am not sure about uninstalling Webroot, I refuse to do that.

Uninstalling is the only way to get the game work at this time unfortunately. All other ways of trying to get around it do not work. Hope Webroot is fast with an update. I contacted Webroot and got no response in my ticket.
Edit: Webroot did end up replying shortly around when I posted this, had me download some logging software and it uploads automaticcaly to their server to help get a fix. They said that there have been numerous reports and that they are aware.

You have 2 options,
1) Completely uninstall SecureAnywhere.
2) Wait for the Webroot patch.
My game is doing the same thing. I understand that EA uses its customer base as proof testers for the game at launch because it is too expensive to diligently test the game. My problem is with chats like this. EA_Barry made one brief comment (3rd in the string 3 weeks ago). We understand you guys are trying to fix the problem....please check in a little more often and let us know you actually care about us and are trying to help?
Any chance we can get a further update on this issue @EA_Barry ? Haven't been able to launch the game since the Dec. 9 update and I also have Webroot on my system. Have done every other troubleshooting method to no avail except for uninstalling my av. Already reached out to EA support and after spending like 50 minutes in a chat I was told the team was aware of the issue, and to "await a response via our social channels".
Really should not have to uninstall my virus protection software in order to play a game that didn't have that issue 3 days ago. C'mon EA.

I am in the same boat I have been using Webroot for years never a problem now to get this game working I have to uninstall it...yeah I'll wait.
Tried this, it doesn't work even after uninstalling it completely.
This is so ridiculous. I’d be curious to see what they finally do about it. You pay $60-$100+ on a game and you can’t play the thing. For a AAA company this is pitiful. Is it all about the money or do they actually care about putting out a good product. The trend since BF4 has been all downhill. I took a break from this game for some years and started playing COD, Valorant, and some others. I was hoping this game was going to reignite my love for Battlefield…. I was wrong. I hope they clear this issue up soon becuase I didn’t spend $100 to not even be able to load the game, AV or not.
With all this going on with EA titles I think it is time to check out Assassins Creed Odyssey. I just finished Assassins Creed Origins and it was excellent. It actually had a story. What a novel idea.
As I've also posted to the Reddit the latest update it is to blame, specifically considering the responses from technical assisting staff (I've inquired it 3 times, presuming lies, poor proficiencies). 'We are aware of this issue and our studio team is already working on these cases. I would request you to wait until this investigation gets over, we are trying our best to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Arvind K 12/10/2021, 8:49 PM'.
Ankita (12/10/2021, 5:02:39 PM): I would like to inform you that this is a know issue. Many of our players is facing this issue right now. I will request you to please wait for some time as team is working on it currently. Please be assured soon this problem will be resolved by our team. You can see all the updates on https://help.ea.com/en/
I just wonder if they are so well aware and 'investigating into', particularly this issue has affected 'many gamers', why they've omitted to keep us posed firsthand?
