No EA Games Will Launch

Hello All,

Recently I have installed a new motherboard, CPU, and RAM and am having issues trying to launch any EA games from the EA App and Steam.

When trying to launch Battlefield 2042 and/or Dead Space, I continuously get the same error message.

I have been down the rabbit hole the last 48 hours trying to troubleshoot this and have tried every way me and others could think of.

  1. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game 5 times.
  2. I have cleared the EA Cache for the app and reinstalled 3 times.
  3. All of my NVIDIA drivers are updated.
  4. I have no overlays active to get in the way.
  5. I have repaired the game 4 times on EA App.
  6. I have validated game files 7 times on Steam App.
  7. I have run everything on administrator.
  8. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Anti Cheat.
  9. My C++ redistributable packages have been repaired and are up to date.
  10. There seems to be no issues with my DirectX.
  11. I have moved the game around in my files and it still won't launch.
  12. I have wiped and reinstalled windows twice.

Is there anything I have not tried yet? After previous error message the EA App will display this as well.

Other games like Minecraft and Terraria work perfect, exponentially better with the new parts. It's just something wrong or a quirk I'm missing with the EA games.

Please let me know anything else to try, if need be, I can provide a Dxdiag txt so that those of you who are much smarter than me can really look into the specifics.

Thank you and please reach out!

  • Hi Spaghettii_33
Sorry to hear you're having a problem.
    - Have you checked if there is an error in the installation logs located in “C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2042\__Installer”?
There should be a file called “InstallLog.txt” Open it and see if you can find an error message such as “fail, failed, can't...”.

    - If you don't see any errors, have you checked your Windows event logs to see if you see any particular errors during the game launch?
To open it just tap "event" in the Windows search bar and open it. Go in "Windows logs" > "Application". If you see an error (Try to make sure that the time matches the time when you started the game)

    Let me know 😁

  • When you say you moved the game files around what do you mean?

Im kinda thinking that there's some level of mismatch between Steam, EA, and where the game's actually installed. How many drives do you have? If you have games on lets say the D drive perhaps Steam or EA is looking for it in the C drive and is freaking out.
