Re: 2042 is stuck on “Connecting to online services” screen

@p3kl055xt9zg, gotcha. So you have played the trial version of the game and you own the full version of the game, with no EA Play. Gotcha. Just out of curiosity; have you played the trial version of the game on the same Xbox account / EA-account connection as the Xbox account where you now own the full game on?

@p3kl055xt9zg, alright. And have you checked on your console if it still shows as BF2042 Trial installed, next to the main game?

Apart from that, you say that you have a physical edition of BF2042 that included both the Xbox One and Xbox Series version?

@EA_Leeuw Yes, still says Trial. I bought the version of the game that has both Xbox One and Xbox series X printed on it

@p3kl055xt9zg, are you able to uninstall the trial and leave the full game installed?

Also, to my knowledge, the dual entitlement of BF2042 (so for old- and current-gen consoles) never got sold on physical discs, only separate.

@EA_Leeuw I can still play the Xbox one version but it keeps forcing me to install the trial if I want to play the series x version. So in my store there was the Xbox one copy, Xbox series X copy, and an Xbox one/Xbox series X copy (the one I purchased). I’ll attach a picture of it.

@p3kl055xt9zg, ah, I think that I now understand where the confusion is from. The game that you have is only the Xbox One version, not Xbox One & Xbox Series (so no Cross-Gen version). These were only sold digitally.

You might get confused by what is written on the Xbox physical CD box. It says Xbox One at the top, and in a small black bar it says Xbox One - Series X. This means that the version of the game that you physically own is backwards compatible on the Xbox Series X, since it can run Xbox One games. However, it is not actually the Series X version that you have physically, as those were only sold separately physical or in a bundle digital.

This is an image of how the CD box looks for the Xbox Series X.

More information about the versions of the game can be found in an older AHQ post.
