It's the game and nothing you can "fix" by troubleshooting.

  • Here is an extensive list of troubleshooting methods you can perform to try and resolve issues with your game. Remember to test the game in between EACH step before moving on to the next. This will help determine what your issue actually was as well as prevent you from doing any unneeded troubleshooting.

    STANDARD TROUBLESHOOTING
    ------------------------------------------

    - Run a full virus scan on your system, removing any infections that are found.

    - Repair your system files and Windows image:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system-files-79aa86cb-ca52-166a-92a3-966e85d4094e

    - Install the latest drivers for your graphics card, selecting the "clean install" option if available:
    Nvidia: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/
    AMD: https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html

    - If using the Steam App verify the integrity of your game files:
    https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/0C48-FCBD-DA71-93EB

    - If using the EA App follow the standard trouble shooting methods located here:
    https://help.ea.com/en/help/ea/ea-app/game-download-install-load-troubleshoot/

    - Delete all cache files Battlefield 2042:
    C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\BattlefieldGameData.kin-live.Win32\cache

    - Close any unnecessary background applications. This include any applications not needed during gameplay.

    - Close any in-game overlay's. This includes, but is not limited to Discord, EA, Overwatch, Xbox Game Bar, etc.

    - Temporarily disable your antivirus software. Depending on the antivirus, it can sometimes cause issues with certain games.

FURTHER TROUBLESHOOTING - IF ALL ELSE FAILS
    ------------------------------------------

    - Backup and remove in-game settings folder. Some game updates can cause issues with in-game settings and corrupt profiles. Your settings can be restored from your backup after testing:
    C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\Documents\Battlefield 2042\settings

    - If you motherboard supports XMP profiling for memory try enabling/disabling. This option will be located in your bios settings, and will very depending on your manufacturer. See your manufacturers documentation for instructions.

    - Disable any overclocking you may have set.

    - Reset your bios settings to factory default. (Keep in mind this may remove any overclocking you have set.)

    - Perform a full clean installation of your video card drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xn8z39tiEL0

    - Install an older version of your video card driver, selecting the "clean install" option if available. Sometimes the latest drivers introduce issues with the game:
    Nvidia: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/
    AMD: https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html

    - Uninstall and reinstall Battlefield 2042.

    - Unisntall and reinstall the EA App.

  • Install the game on an SSD, game will stutter on an HDD.
