Battlefield 6: Feedback after 100 hours played
Hello Dice,
I wrote a review on Xbox that highlighted what I anecdotally felt worked and didn't work with Battlefield 6. I feel that more is working than not and I like that the devs seem to be responding to player feedback with action. However, there are some drawbacks to this game that I feel must be addressed for Battlefield 6 to hit its apex, so I'm going to highlight those.
- We need larger maps, and maps with naval combat. I work in surgery. In surgery, there are multiple approaches we can take to accomplish the same procedure i.e. laparscopically, robotically, open incision, ect. It feels like most of the maps we have right now are all following the same (or very similar) technique of consolidating the chaos so there is constant action. If we did all of our surgeries open, we would have worse health outcomes. We'll, if all the maps are small to medium small, the OG player base is going to get bored and leave, which to me is a negative health outcome. I can't imagine it would be very hard to port a map like Lancang Dam, Zavod 311 or Nansha Strike (for the naval issue). I know you are creatives, and artists don't like to recreate the same work, but these works were considered master pieces of their time.
- The assault class is significantly weaker than other classes. Ladders are only good when you can find the pixel perfect spot to place them down and the stim is horrendous. It's actually astounding that a sniper can hold their breath for longer than a stim lasts in this game. I don't know if you've ever drank a redbull before but I promise it lasts longer than 10 seconds. Now imagine injecting a redbull into your heart; that should last 30 seconds minimum. Jokes aside, I do think the class needs balancing and perhaps some stronger gadgets. I actually have a great idea for it. I think that alongside the Assault Rifle draw speed boost (that has been proven to actually not work) there should be a boost to reload speed and draw time for shotguns AND assault rifles. Also, add smoke grenades and a health boost to the stim. This will surely increase the utility of assault.
- Now you guys probably won't like this one, but I don't think it's your fault. I honestly blame EA for this debacle. So please struggle through and read despite the tough love. Here it goes: Stop locking guns behind the battle pass. People bought the game for an astounding 70 dollars. 70 may not be much to a game company, but it's A LOT for the average individual. Then, ONE MONTH post launch, we have to buy a battle pass to access the full content of the game. What about all those people who will be buying Battlefield 6 for Christmas? Are they gonna just have to rise and grind to unlock what's arguably the best Sniper in the game (the mini scout)? The gun ought to be permantly available as an assignment as a thank you to the millions of people who chose to support the game. Just my two cents.
Please don't take my criticism as some sort of blind negativity toward Battlefield 6. Honest truth would tell you that this is the most fun I've had in a multi-player miltary shooter since I was stalking the towers of Shanghai in Battlefield 4 as an adolescent. I know that behind every dev team there are individuals who have work tirelessly, making nothing from a blank slate, for years to create this experience we call Battlefield. Those same individuals will clock out and go home, just to return to the expectations life has handed them for the next day. But please; continue to improve what has been built. Battlefield 6 can be Michael Jordan, with 6 rings or Paul George, with no rings.
Thank you for your time,
