Battlefield 6: Not The Battlefield We Wanted.

I'm genuinely over BF6, and it’s frustrating to see a series I loved move so far from its roots. This game feels less like a proper Battlefield experience and more like a bland Call of Duty clone, lacking the scale and tactical depth that defined classics like BF4.

Key Frustrations

  • Aim Assist Lowers the Skill Ceiling: This is one of the biggest issues. The aggressive aim assist means that even players who haven't put in the time to develop true muscle memory can effortlessly "beam" you from across the map. It completely trivializes the shooting mechanics and removes the satisfaction of mastering a gun.
  • Terrible Spawns: The spawn system is unacceptable. Because the maps are too small and chaotic, you are constantly being deployed right in front of enemies or immediately in their line of sight. It’s an instant death sentence that completely ruins the flow of the game and replaces strategic play with pure, frustrating luck.
  • Broken Vehicle Sandbox and Balance: Tanks, helicopters, and jets are too easily eliminated by infantry due to the sheer power and spam of anti-armor rockets and gadgets. Vehicles feel like "glass cannons" instead of the powerful, game-changing assets they should be, further reducing the combined arms identity that Battlefield is built on.
  • Missing BF Identity & Features: Where is the dynamic weather or the intense, evolving map state that made previous games feel like a living warzone? The lack of these core elements, combined with the faster pace and questionable design choices (like the lack of a proper Server Browser), means the game has nothing in common with the immersive, slower, strategic battles we used to enjoy.

Ultimately, BF6 traded the unique large-scale formula for a generic, fast-paced shooter trend, and it's a massive step down from the brilliance of BF4.

  • Did you try to fly a helicopter?
After a hit it starts almost spinning and in a keyboard and mouse, you cant even move correctly to safety of your spawn area.
Its insane what they did to all vehicules.

BF6 is a COD with destruction.
    No more no less.
Fast paced gameplay non stop, for players without brain.

  • Agree with most of that . Have been playing bf2042 since day 1 launch  then changed to bf6 24 hours ago.  its Lacking in Armoured Vehicle variety, tanks drive like they've been speed limited to 25kms and can't turn for $h1t, Soldiers move too slow, 3rd person vehicle view settings  don't go wide and far back enough, they could have carried over some of the specialist abilitys from bf2042, some of them were pretty cool to use in certain map enviroments. The rest will just have to take getting use to. Coming from 2042 to this has been frustrating and of putting.

I have to agree that the new game simply fails to capture the core Battlefield experience. While its current success is driven by the initial launch hype—the 'honeymoon phase'—I anticipate that player retention will become a major issue once that excitement fades in the coming months.

My primary frustration stems from the developers’ misleading communication regarding map design. We were explicitly told the beta maps were intentionally undersized for server stress tests, with a promise of significantly larger maps for the final release. This broken promise is a major letdown. We received maps that still heavily favor dense, chaotic combat, which often devolves into a constant 'meat grinder' instead of the open, strategic gameplay the series is known for.

The lack of satisfying tactical depth severely undermines the fun. I genuinely regret making this purchase and would seek a refund if possible. The game, in its current state, is nowhere near the standard of quality and strategic depth achieved by titles like Battlefield 4.

  • EA should have focused on going back more along BF3/BF4. The selector jumping around when trying to spawn off of someone in your squad or in a vehicle is frustrating at best. There's a lot that needs to be cleaned up and I'm not sure that it can be done completely or properly at this point. It seems to me that the powers to be aren't listening to the consumers.

I couldn't agree more with you on retention, I've seen the same with BF2042. A lot of people keep going back to BF4, even if it did have it's own little quirks and such but the game play was so much better in my opinion. I think the graphics on 2042 and 6 are awesome but EA went way off course in the game play. Obviously this just my opinion, and we all know the saying about opinions.....

  • Saying that Battlefield is a Call of Duty clone, is like claiming Badminton and Tennis are the same sport. Yes, there are some surface-level similarities, but once you compare even the most basic details the argument just completely falls apart. It's mostly just an emotional argument based on feelings.

The points you make do have some merit though. The spawns are truly terrible at times and the vehicles do need to be better balanced against vehicles. The game could use some bigger maps.

The weather effects and levolution are in my opinion a minor part of the Battlefield identity, but I can understand that for some people it actually is important for the overall immersion.

I don't agree with your conclusion though. Battlefield 6 is certainly not generic. Quite the opposite. There are few games like it. The closest one is perhaps the Delta Force, but that game is quite a step down in terms of overall quality.

Battlefield also isn't strategic. Battlefield doesn't concern itself with large-scale territory control or logistics. We don't really have a proper long-term meta like you for example have in a game like Fox Hole.

If anything, Battlefield 6 is a combination of features from multiple different Battlefield games. It is for the most part the Battlefield I wanted, and I certainly don't enjoy Call of Duty.

Gaming in general has become about inclusivity in the sense that they try to hard to accommodate the worst players so that everyone feels included which leads to them not disliking the title produced by this company and therefore playing it more and buying future iterations of the game. As usual, it is all for the monetization living in a world based on capitalism. I don't know if you guys have looked into it but they also know have some kind of code that helps adjust for people with bad pain. So currently in battlefield. If you go up against somebody who has bad pain or intentionally lagging here neck connection it will be in God mode compared to you. They need to get back to the core values of gaming where you're either good or you're not. Capitalism is killing the whole world and now gaming.

  • And what is with this range finder cheat ? It used to require a little bit of skill to snipe now anyone can do it with ease
