Battlefield 6 weapon accessories and mission unlocking progress is too difficult

Please Don’t Let "Grind" Ruin the Battlefield Experience

Dear Development Team,

As a long-time fan of the Battlefield series, I jumped into Battlefield 6 with high expectations. However, the frustration caused by the weapon attachment unlock system and the slow mission progression has seriously undermined my gaming experience, and I feel compelled to share my honest thoughts.

First, the "grind" required to unlock weapon attachments has crossed the line of reasonableness. Maxing out a single primary weapon demands an absurd 3,500 kills, which takes over 20 hours of intense gameplay—far more than Battlefield 2042, and even more excessive than other titles in the same genre. What’s worse, unlocking all attachments for a weapon requires reaching 40 mastery levels. Without experience boosts, it takes an average of 30 kills to level up once, whereas the previous installment only required 12 mastery levels with no mandatory kill requirements. This stark difference is truly unacceptable. Starting with a "bare weapon" (no attachments) and facing players who have already unlocked key attachments ruins fairness and severely limits tactical options.

Even more ridiculous is that some unlock missions are designed to be unnecessarily tedious, if not "anti-player." For example, the task "Get 150 headshots from over 200 meters" is nearly impossible, as most current maps lack valid positions for 200-meter shots—while similar missions in the previous game only required 10 headshots. This isn’t testing skill; it’s draining player patience. Missions like "Suppress 300 enemies with a machine gun" or "Get kills after injecting adrenaline" either detach from real battlefield scenarios or force players to disrupt their normal combat rhythm, turning "enjoying battles" into "playing just to finish tasks."

  • What we want from a progression system is the joy of growing—earning experience through normal battles and unlocking content gradually—not the "grind like a job" of forced repetitive, mechanical tasks. We hope the development team will take community feedback seriously: lower the unlock threshold for weapon attachments, optimize unreasonable mission requirements, and let progression return to a reasonable track where "you can advance just by enjoying the game." After all, no one wants to be driven away from a battlefield they love by a poorly designed progression system.

A Battlefield Fan Who Hopes the Game Will Improve

  • Insult to injury youtube inbox filled with streamers talking about their “MUST SEE META BUILD” brother I have 3 unlocks on my first weapon who are you even talking to?

The difference between types of players is getting bigger and bigger with each year, people play 18 hours vs 1 hour a day, can imagine for the hardcore players to not burn out before the in game store is up they have to add this grind? Do hope they do some changes cuz I won’t keep playing long if the game feels like a F2P title in terms of progression without paying.

To prevent hardcore gamers from getting bored before the game store launches, they have to increase the difficulty of these grindy tasks. This method is so stupid – the weapon upgrade pace during the beta test was perfect. Now I seriously suspect that the Battlefield studio has been infiltrated by Treyarch!
