Gee, I was wondering when someone would come up with something like that.
Religious buildings get blown up and used as cover during wars all the time. You can look at the recent destruction of a cathedral in Kiev, or John Steele’s parachute being caught by a church steeple in WWII, and of course all the stories where steeples and minarets have been used as sniper nests.
I’m not saying thats a good thing, I’m merely pointing out it is what it is. As such, having a mosque potentially being damaged and used as cover in a game about war is simply not disrespectful nor irreverent. It is not a comment on religion, and neither it is meant to disregard religion. It is simply a building that is common for this type of area, and treated like any other building because that’s what usually happens.
So I personally hope they simply continue to make the environments look authentic. I would really hate it if all the WWII wargames start taking churches out of French villages just because someone finds a way to make it offensive.
