DICE still hasn't understood what the biggest problem with BF6 is.

DICE still hasn't understood what the biggest problem with BF6 is.

The new map is well-done, but it won't keep PC players engaged. In one or two weeks, player numbers will drop again, perhaps to another all-time low. Veteran PC players won't return to the game until BF6 feels like a classic Battlefield. This means that players may return only when BF6 features longer TTK/TTD, similar to what was seen in BF4, BF1, and BFV. Also, not until PC players can choose whether they want to play against console players who have an extreme advantage.

I think the developers only realized this (TTK/TTD) at the very end of BF2042’s lifecycle. I sincerely hope that the developers will set aside their pride, acknowledge their mistake in this regard, and set the TTK/TTD to the usual levels for the Battlefield series.

They know exactly what the problem is, but they've already made their money, so they don't intend to waste time and, more importantly, money on further improvements—and why, you ask? Because they'd rather just scrap this title and start working on another one, where they can make more money, and the adventure can start all over again.

Many of us made the mistake of trusting them that this time (when the game was released in Beta) we were dealing with a real Battlefield that still required improvements that could be fixed over time, but everything was going well – only to discover that it was all a setup. Leaving us with even more limited content, more bugs, and a lack of support from the developers (who have clearly abandoned the title).

Now they're probably waiting for the moment when the audience drops to such a level that they can confidently say they'll discontinue support due to low interest in the title. In other words, they're blaming it all on the players.

This isn't the first title they'll do this to, and it likely won't be the last.

One thing is certain: players won't trust them anymore, which will impact sales of their future games.

How is it possible that in the past one studio was able to create such masterpieces as Battlefield 3 and 4, and today four studios are unable to create one game well? It's a disgrace.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I agree that this could be one possible scenario for how things might unfold.

Why were BF3, BF4, BF1, and BF5 such great games? Because they were made by a completely different team. The original creators simply knew what they were doing better, thought differently, and were less “woke.” The original team is still making great games (Arc Riders) that look amazing and are technically top-notch.

I would very much like to see the upcoming game Wardogs succeed. Finally, there would be a competitive title to rival the Battlefield series. If WD is even just a little bit better in terms of gameplay, I won’t hesitate to abandon the Battlefield series after 15 years, just as DICE abandoned the series’ fans in favor of CoD players and the like.

What does being "woke" have to do with ttk? If you spend 5 minutes reading comments on this forum you'll see people complaining about a great big raft of things, from lack of a server browser (which wasn't in 2042, never mentioned in 6 and never promised, but people purchased it anyway, and then complained afterwards), lack of big maps, lack of night maps, lack of water based maps, ttk/ttd, UI issues, crashes and so on. There's no single thing wrong with the title that will magically make everyone stay, there's personal gripes that make people leave. And that goes for every game out there - different people want different things.

I get that there are as many different opinions on what to change in BF6 as there are players.
However, I play with several different groups of players I’m connected with on Discord. Everyone has a different opinion, but we all agree on one thing: specifically, that BF6 is more frustrating than fun when it comes to TTK/TTD.

When I wrote about the new woke team, that obviously didn’t directly relate to TTK/TTD. It wasn’t even mentioned in my main post, but the mention was in response to a comment.

What personal gripes, mate? Have you ever played BF2 from 2005? BF6 has a limited variety of maps. No naval map with the aircraft carrier on day 1... give me a break. The gameplay mechanics are shallow as hell, and TTK/TTD is basically a fast laser beam again.

KORD is even more ridiculous than in BF3 or 4, beaming at long distances, no problem with a 20 damage model. Conquest is boring as hell without some tactical depth, no bigger maps, and no assets on the objectives. Voice comms are useless because you will not find a Commander or a Squad Leader with any abilities. BF6 is the most dull&boring BF game I have ever played by far. No mistakes made so far LOL. I only play this game because my mates anticipated something similar to BF2/3/4.

Battle Royale... I mean, who loves to play in Solos against tanks? Whoever decided to implement tanks/IFVs in solos, do you even play this game daily? Do you understand that none of the BRs have tanks in the gameplay loop? Do you understand how Conquest game mode works compared to Battle Royale, with the impending circle of fire... and totally campy playstyle that involves all possible angles? All players decide not to fire at the tank because SOLOs ARE CAMPY. However, whoever shoots an RPG not only has to deal with a tank but also with other sneaky players.

Sorry lads, this ain`t a good BF Conquest-wise, not even a decent BR.

As the player FireyPants pointed out here—every player has a different opinion on BF6.

I admit that my comment is aimed solely at classic Battlefield. That is historically the only true Battlefield. I play BR mode minimally. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the success of BR mode. That is, its success considering the fiascos of BR mode in the previous games BFV and BF2042.

You mention laser weapons. However, you don’t specify whether you’re a console or PC player. When I watch console gameplay videos where weapons have 25% less recoil than on PC, then yes, it does feel like a laser.

But believe me, I play the game regularly. I play almost every day. I don’t play any other games, and I’ve logged thousands of hours in the Battlefield series. I’m also surrounded by a large group of PC players, true fans of the series. They naturally have different opinions on BF6’s issues. One complains about vehicles, another about snipers, and yet another about console players having an advantage. However, we all agree on one important thing: the game is one big stress. The TTK/TTD is too short, leaving you no chance to react to anything in the game. For example, reacting to vehicles, fire from multiple directions, campers on building rooftops in city maps, snipers, or console players with an advantage, etc. But if you had the time to react to any of these things in the game, many of these problems would cease to exist. Why? Because your problem is that someone took you down before you had a chance to react in any way.
BF2042 suffered from the same problem. Among many others. That’s also why the TTK/TTD at the beginning and end of BF2042’s lifecycle was different, and the game wasn’t playable until its end.

Because the people who made those great games are no longer at the studio and have moved on to their own new studio. In my opinion, the only way to truly help Battlefield at this point would be to bring those original developers back and completely get rid of the CoD developers.

    Unfortunately, that’s partly true.

The original team now has its own project called Embark Studios. This team continues to create amazing games, such as *Arc Raiders* and *The Finals*.

As far as I know, Vince Zampella moved from the CoD team to EA as the new head of the BF6 development team. It’s hard to say, though, whether he also brought in any developers from the CoD team. In any case, targeting BF6 at CoD players turned out to be a big mistake. These players left the game long ago. I’m talking about the classic Battlefield here, not REDSEC.
Battlefield veterans (PC) are so neglected and penalized that they’re practically absent from the game. Now, BF6 is played by new players or dedicated console gamers. In any case, the drop to 44th place on the Steam charts and the plunge to half the player count in just a few months is a disgraceful result.
But DICE is still steadfastly holding its course like the Titanic, seeing and hearing nothing.
