I'm glad this thread resurfaced.
This is happening constantly now to the point I actively avoid head on engagements at all costs because I get melted the moment an enemy appears in front of me, the feeling like your character gets frozen and you don't get a chance to click the mouse, you just die, I have resorted to "camping" somewhat as its the only way to give myself a fair chance.
