DS4 Controller

With the arbitrary detection of the DS4Windows program as cheat software, I am wondering how I'll be able to use my DS4 in BF6. I see support for Dualsense controllers on the Steam page, but none for the DS4. This will be a make or break issue for me. Please let me know how I'll be able to use the controller that's comfortable for me.

  • For anyone reading this, I have found a solution. Steam has Xinput emulation now, you just have to enable "Steam Input" and pick a profile for the DS4 on your desired game.

  • Have not seen specific confirmation, but since was in 2042, I feel it highly likely to be included in BF6.  I would bet on it.

    See you on the Battlefield!

DS4Windows was also not a problem on BF2042, nor was it on BF1 for 8 years until the dawn of EA's wildly inefficient Anti-Cheat, Javelin. However, the latter is now left with no support for the DS4, rendering the product broken to me. I'll need assurance that it will be natively supported here if they want a purchase. I'm not assuming anything.

    JohnBillington ,

Please refer to the Battlefield 6 Steam page here or the EA.com page here for information on supported controllers. If your preferred controller is not listed, it is not officially supported. Using third-party software to enable unsupported controllers may put you and your account at risk of violating the Terms of Service.

    Thank you.

I could find no mention of supported controllers on the EA page that you linked. Since you're seeing something I'm not, is the DS4 supported?

I think you may be misunderstanding the situation with existing titles. DS4Windows is (incorrectly) flagged as cheat software and prevents the games from launching. I have no idea how that would put me at any risk of the violating the Terms of Service, given I can't even start the game.

This is fundamentally misunderstanding what you're replying to in favor of a boilerplate response.

The Dualsense is an officially supported controller. If I want to use it on PC, DS4Windows is far and away the better way to do so right now. It does not enable cheating, and it never has in the near decade it has existed.

This has just now suddenly been arbitrarily marked as a cheating tool in any title Javelin is being used in. This should be corrected or sent along with the dev team, not deferred to a supported controllers page.

hope that clears up for you why DS4 should be banned.

I hope you realize that this same thing can be done using the controller configurator on Steam itself.

And with the software that comes with every mouse and keyboard.

If you ban things that can do this, you ban the entire PC platform.

This is a totally overreaching solution to stop cheating. Javelin should be able to detect when macros are used (like every other anticheat) not ban every program that can potentially implement them.

No to the extent and with the ease that external software provides. Cheating is a cat and mouse game, and it will never go away. Limiting the ease of cheating is the best way to combat it. If all you want to do is have a controller work with a game, then steam input should be enough. Why need external programs?
