EA/DICE Please address imbalance issues between input methods.
I'm a dedicated Battlefield player on PC (M&K) who's invested countless hours into your titles. I'm reaching out with serious concerns about the input-based balancing that gives controllers—both on PC and via crossplay with consoles—a clear edge over mouse and keyboard users, particularly the 25% recoil reduction and reduced bloom for controller input.
In practice, this makes short-range engagements heavily favor controllers, especially when paired with aim assist. Controller users can opt for cheaper or alternative attachments that might increase recoil or bloom for M&K players, freeing up slots —further widening the gap. I've also noticed a tangible disadvantage in vehicles; tank shots feel less consistent against opponents, as if their reduced recoil/bloom applies there too, making it harder for M&K to land hits.
I'm sure the amount of players being reported for cheating would lessen once this is addressed, since we can't tell who is/is not cheating. When one input method gets a clear advantage, it feels like everyone with a controller icon is a cheater. Until this is addressed, I will report every death I sustain as a cheater.
Compounding this, console players (predominantly controllers) can easily disable crossplay to match only against other consoles, while PC players have no straightforward in-game option—editing config files is unofficial and often results in empty lobbies. This forces PC M&K users into mixed lobbies without recourse.
To better understand and help foster balanced gameplay, could you please address:
- What data or testing led to the 25% recoil reduction and bloom advantages for controllers on PC? How do these scale with aim assist and vehicle weapons?
- Can you share metrics like: active PC players and % using controllers vs. M&K; console player counts; crossplay opt-out rates; and performance gaps (e.g., accuracy, K/D) by input method/platform?
A smaller adjustment (e.g., 10-15% recoil reduction, no bloom tweak), official PC crossplay/input toggles, or removal of these bonuses entirely would go a long way toward fairness. I want every player to feel their skill shines, regardless of input. You want to keep people playing, but if you never address these concerns, then what is the point of playing a game where one input method has a distinct advantage? There has to be a happy medium we can agree upon.
