Gun Realism

I wanna start off by saying I know it's a video game and all that. But if this game is shooting for realism then there is quite a few issues. Muzzle velocity for one. The M277 has a MV of 780 M/S which is equivalent to 2340 F/S. The speed of the real life bullet is around 3400 F/S.... every single gun has this issue where the MV is extremely off.

Now the Damage...using rbe M277 again for reference. The TTK I don't necessarily mind to a degree but there has been some instances where I have to shoot a guy 5-10 times just to get a kill. The fact that this bullet is compared to a 5.56 and does 25 damage is insane to me. The difference is astounding when you compare them IRL. Without going into a ballistics description the M277 should atleast have the same damage output as the M417A2 if you want to put it in a similar range of 7.62x51 aka .308. But yet the 6.8 still beats the .308 in speed and overall damage and penetration.

Overall opinion is that I just don't think the guns get enough presentation or justice when it comes to their performance. Now the precision aspect...I honestly do not know who designed that aspect of the weapons but they really need to get their head examined and shoot some guns IRL. Bullets do not just go all over the place in different directions as they come out of the barrel. Now if an individual wants them too then sure they can swing their arms around and go crazy while shooting. But generally if a gun is pointed at something....it will be fired and the bullet will go at that something in a straight line. Not all around the target.

Do they need to be laser beams? No. But atleast tone it down so guns can act like they aren't pipe guns from fallout.

I just would like to mention that the bullet won't fly in a straight line and that real guns have various accuracies (MOA), too (but I assume you just took a shortcut here, so mentioning it just for other readers). But it's as you said - it's a game, the muzzle speeds vary, the damage vary and also the accuracy vary from the real-life counterparts. They just took what the gun is in reality and loosely translated it into the game a way that benefits the gameplay, not to be an accurate representation (as it never was in Battlefields).

Yeah it's baffling for me at first that M7 deals the same damage as M4A1, but M7 has way longer(maybe infinite, can't remember) 4 shot kill range from what I've read, where as M4A1's damage range drop off quick. It's a OK trade-off I guess, but it's still a bit jarring to me that HK417 and M7 are both "carbine" in this game and the M7 deals 5.56 damage. Not the end of the world for me personally, tho.

Bullet velocity wise, I think one needs to take a look at bullet velocity for all weapons in the game as a whole, which admittedly I never really looked into, to decide if the the muzzle velocity is fitting for a weapon in the game. BF MV always tends to be on the slow side of things, the current situation is already way better than what was in BF3/BF4, which had like airsoft ballistics.

I   used to have a gunsmithing business,  been in the shooting sports my entire life..     I also manufacture my own ammunition..

If  Developers  would grasp the   FPE , or  Foot pounds of energy, and USE it accordingly..    the could actually calculate the proper recoil as well as  the  in game weapon  actually behaving like a real weapon..   both of  you   probably already understand what Im talking about..     It really isnt  that complex,  and an algorithm  could  calculate the FPE over the distance the projectile travels in the game..   This works for every  bullet, or piece of shrapnel in the game..    Its all about the  impact  energy..    It would be a much better way to do it..   and  then you dont have the need for clueless devs "Nerfing" things..
