Hardcore

If you really want to stand out as Game of the Year, you need to support both core and hardcore players. Showing that you value both playstyles will expand your player base and keep people engaged.

A lot of us prefer hardcore because it feels more realistic—one well-placed shot matters, not emptying a full magazine just to take someone down. For many, that style of play is simply more satisfying and immersive.

If battlefield wants to rise above the competition, giving hardcore players the attention and support we’ve been asking for is a must.

  • Never played hardcore, but personally would like to see it come back. I believe many players would appreciate it.

  • There most likely wont even be a server browser, so im really not sure theyre capable of doing that. I mean I wish they add hardcore just as much as a server browser and dedicated server aswell as custom servers. But i dont think thats their aim, its all in the MTX. Thats where the money lies. And considering the beta felt heavily catered towards CoD players im pretty sure theyll focus mainly on battle passes and skins and neglect anything and all else that made for a good BF game. But hey im with ya on this, I hope they put some good HC in !

They announced they had a hardcore preset ready for Portal during the multiplayer announcement, I'm 99% sure.

Just adding to this - Hardcore should be its own standalone preset, not through portal.

Portal is nice but it'll be 1000 different hardcore version rather than a de-facto hardcore preset that everyone is using, like in BF3 and BF4.

There needs to be some kind of standard, like it was, because the whole package is kind of essential.
Like the lower health, no regen, no minimap, that kind of thing.

I would suggest adding it as a official preset, then people can tinker on top of it in portal if they wish to, but a standardized Hardcode mode should be a thing.

For me personally, seeing as I only played HC in BF3 and BF4, it is basically what decides whether or not I purchase the game or not.

  • I know that option exists in the portal, but that’s more of a player-created mode rather than something officially supported or integrated by Battlefield. It would feel completely different if the developers actually added it as an official game mode.

  • I’d like to emphasize the importance of having Hardcore as a dedicated, standalone preset—not something that’s only accessible through Portal.

While Portal offers flexibility, it also leads to countless variations of Hardcore settings. This dilutes the experience and prevents a unified standard, unlike the consistent Hardcore mode we had in BF3 and BF4.

A standardized Hardcore preset is essential. Core elements like reduced health, no health regeneration, and the absence of a minimap are fundamental to the experience. These features shouldn’t be left to individual interpretation—they should be officially defined.

My recommendation is to implement Hardcore as an official preset. Players can still customize it within Portal if they choose, but having a baseline ensures consistency across the community.

Personally, Hardcore mode was the only way I played BF3 and BF4. Its presence—or absence—is a deciding factor in whether I purchase the game.
