It's not a bad game, considered alone. The massive disappointment for most Battlefield franchise fans is it is not good compared to BF1, BF4, BF3 or even BF5. It's an improved BF2042 and that isn't a good thing.
They have allowed the BS from BR to taint it. They have allowed EA corporate greed and the desire to grab market share and make it comfy for CoD deserters to taint it.
As for Javelin: An intrusive vulnerability for users and it doesn't stop cheaters/hackers. They are still around and EA is not doing all they can to stop them. No law suits for cheat sellers (other companies do). No reporting to the IRS or whatever other authority. They got the good press from the initial marketing BS and they don't want the hassle and expense of following through.
Good for you if you're enjoying it. I've put 250 hours into it now. I have a lot of gaming time these days and a good tolerance for grind and problems. I'm also a very long-time gaming enthusiast.
Unfortunately the more I play the more problems make themselves obvious that I cannot overlook and don't believe EA/DICE have the ability or desire to fix/change. The more I play the more I grind my teeth.
- No crossplay options for PC players. Inadequate options for console
- Brightness and over-exposure is painful (literally) even after 'fixes'
- Recoil for some weapons (SMGs) still ridiculously low after 'fixes'
- Team balancing often bad even though we have the criticised per game lobby refresh
- Map balancing often bad even after 'fixes'. Some games see one side with 1 tank and another with 4
- The party system is still limited and buggy after 10+ years
- Front-end UI is horrible
- Game choice systems are over-simplistic, badly design and buggy
- Lobby system still puts you in repeat maps and attack/defence cycles. No smarts at all
- Settings UI is horrible
- Spawn screen is clunky and buggy and obviously console biased
- TTK-TTD desync is still bad after initial fixes
- Several other gunplay issues like client verified bullets being discarded by the server
- HUD is minimal and not as good as previous versions. Even BF2042 had more and better features
- Loads of challenges are broken and there is massive variation in difficulty
- Progression locks noobs and casuals out of important class tools and huge attachment power leaps
- Exploits, but also 'legit' gadgets like ladders are leading to horrible unbalancing gameplay like roof camping
- Skins are already (with Phantom skins) leading to confusion, wasting ammo and giving away position firing on friendlies and they are set to get worse
- Vehicles are horrible to pilot/drive for most, though when a hardened fan masters it they are near unkillable
I could go on and on but I've probably made my point. It's painful and, for a franchise fan of 23 years and after BF5 and BF2042 and promises of 'return to form' and 'grounded in realism' it's yet another crushing disappointment.
I'm only playing it because my Friday night regular crew insisted they, after 10 years of BF1, really wanted to try it.
If I'm honest I actually held some hope, too, after the beta. There were many issues, but I could see how they could be fixed/improved and EA/DICE were 'making the right noises'.
I should have know better. EA are a greedy corp who have proved time and again they cannot be trusted and DICE don't seem like they play Battlefield at all. The head honcho is a CoD guy... I should have known better...
