We need a solo v/s bot mode (without XP, to avoid XP farming)

My suggestion: Battlefield 6 is good. It will be better if casual players like me get a PvE bot-only mode that can be played solo with and against bots. Unlike "Casual Breakthrough", this mode should have no other human players. It should have all the current maps and battle systems like breakthrough, conquest, and rush.

To avoid XP farming: This mode may have its own weapon mastery development system but without rank progression. The weapon-and-attachment unlocks made in this mode will NOT reflect in multiplayer against human players. That way, XP farming will be completely avoided. (On the contrary, unlocks made in PvP multiplayer may reflect in this mode.) Let the game stay online during this time, I don't mind.

Why such a mode should exist: (1) This way, casual players can play casually and the sweats can be sweats without getting in each other's way. That's a win for evrybody. (2) Many casual players like me simply want to enjoy the game in our own way. We want the game to be fun, not yet another competition we have to get into. (3) Some of us (like me) sincerely try to develop our skills by getting into PvP multipayer. But that becomes impossible when we get killed in a fraction of a second each time an opponent appears on the screen. The need for balanced mathmaking in each team means we have to face everyone from novice to experts in the other team; and we end up becoming easy targets for the experts. Without a gradual learning curve, the game becomes unenjoyable. Besides, most of us have full-time work and we simply don't have the time needed to develop those skills. Instead, we would just like to have a fun time.

Please consider my request. This game will be absolutely fantastic if the developers create such a mode.

Thank you.

I actually like this idea overall, but I disagree with it being completely without XP. EA shouldn’t have added Portal with all the promises of freedom, creativity, full XP, and progression, only to strip out half its functionality after launch. They’re lucky no one has pushed for refunds or lawsuits after that happened, considering how heavily those features were advertised. That was one of the best things about the mode, being able to set up your own matches, play solo, against bots, or with friends, and still feel like your time in the game meant something.

If they bring in a proper PvE mode, it should still give XP, just at a reduced rate like it does in Battlefield 2042. That system already works fine, you still make progress, just not as fast as in public matches, which helps prevent farming while still rewarding players for their time. People just want to play at their own pace and enjoy the game without feeling like their time doesn’t count. Many people enjoy FPS games but not necessarily playing against others, they just want to relax and have fun without the pressure of competing.

  • No, what even is the point then.

You're creating a mode and punishing people who want to play it, because they're effectively locked out of progression. Instead of this, getting kills against bots SHOULD COUNT FULLY TOWARDS PROGRESSION but NOT towards profile stats. So K/D and all that should be ignored.

This is in my opinion the best way to deal with it. Furthermore, FULL XP against bots must only be allowed in Official Matchmaking and unaltered Verified Modes, Portal needs Solo/Co-op Verified Modes, including Approved Custom Modes like that Portal Golf Map, exactly what should've been done in 2042 but what was taken away from BF6's launch.

  • I believe I need to elaborate why I suggested no XP for this "solo v/s bots" mode I wish to have. These are just my persoanl thoughts - I'm aware that I'm walking on sensitive grounds here and I intend no disrespect to anyone. I request people to have an open mind when they hear me out.

We all remember the rush with which the bot-backfill option was canceled in verified portal modes as soon as XP farming was observed. The lesson I learned here is this - EA/Dice looks at XP farming strictly negatively. I'm aware that people had two different reactions to that change. Some people welcomed it and some people felt betrayed. I understand the emotional space of both kind of people. But let's note that the decision has not been reversed. It's obvious that the company would rather reject casual players than risk XP farming. That leaves casual players with little to do in this game. No, that "casual breakthrough" mode isn't lucrative; because I notice expert sweats in it every day and they chew us (casual players) up same as they'd chew through the bots.

We want a clean solo v's bots gameplay to be comfortable playing this game. And if XP farming is going to be a big issue, then I thought it should be pointed out that removing XP is better than removing the very opportunity itself for casual players. I have nothing against XP; I just want the playing opportunity to exist. I risk assuming that there are many players like me who just want to shoot bots and have fun. Such players won't want to miss casual fun just because XP progression is an issue. Also, please note that I'm not saying we would want to miss progression altogether; but given an option, a casual player will want a casual game mode without rank progression (but with weapon unlocks) rather than no such mode at all. That's what I think - and I fully accept that my judgment might be wrong here and I may be missing some facts. I respect that others may have much different and much emotional lookout here and I accept it.

But yes, I emphasize: XP or without XP, we should get a bot-only mode in this fantastic game. The graphics, the gameplay - it's all good. With bots, it'll be a game for everybody.

  • Yes, we are all going to have our opinions on this. Mine, as someone I consider a super casual gamer, is that I should be able to create portal with bots and get weapon XP. I will take the time to level my weapons, but I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to do that in a bot lobby, if I wish.

What I find super annoying is having to wait for a game to start because there aren't enough players. I have sat on that ready screen with three other players almost 10 minutes waiting for a game to start as we wait for other players to join. I've been playing King of the Hill/Deathmatch/Team Deathmatch using small maps and I still have to wait. I find that a little ridiculous--if I have a limited time to play, I don't need to spend that time waiting for a lobby to fill. With that new Casual Breakthrough, why not just start start it on a timer using the players who are in the lobby? When I think about playing the game, I always consider the frustration of having to wait for the game to actually start. EA is wasting my time when it comes to that.

That's why a portal system with weapon XP would be a better way to play for me.
