Is it just me?

or has the game become much worse since the latest update? What I mean is that it feels like most weapons don’t seem to do enough damage against opponents anymore. I thought the game was working pretty well before the update, but now the gunplay feels alot worse!

The weapons I’m used to playing with now feel completely useless. I mainly use AR weapons like the M4 and KORD. They work at very close range, but beyond 10 meters they feel almost pointless.

I’ve tried every possible alternative and tested countless different weapon setups and combinations, but nothing feels the same as it did before the update. The gunplay just doesn’t feel right anymore.

I’ve played Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 for thousands of hours, so I know how the weapons should feel. Before this update, the game felt much better, but these changes have made it so frustrating that it actually makes me not want to play anymore.

Was this update made mainly to help less experienced players compete with high-skilled players? Because it feels like the skill gap has been reduced, and the weapons no longer reward accuracy, experience, and good aim the way they used to.

  • S4 did a number on the hitreg and netcode.  The damage model changes, in most cases, change the damage you need by a single bullet on 90% of weapons.  If you are insanely attentive maybe you can feel this change that occurs one out of 20 gunfights.

But honestly it's the netcode and hitreg.  I'm sending hundreds of bullets into people, on target, bullet trail goes through them, but no hit.  I have bullets hitting walls behind people, as if I'm shooting through them, and no hits.  I'll even get hit markers and sound, but no damage is applied.

This is made about 10x worse when the other player is a console or CN cheater.  Consoles, for any myriad of reason, are getting a clear advantage in terms of connection to the servers.  I don't know if this is purposefully designed, or because the consoles are just laggier due to being too weak to play BF6 and it causes server lag.  Maybe it's just because EA hates PC players, who knows.

CN players abuse the lag advantage they get by using a VPN to get into regions they shouldn't.  The fastest and best solution is to lower the ping limit so people with a ping over, say, 120 just get kicked from matches.  Of course spoofers exist too, but those at least need a bit more effort to work with than these dollar a dozen VPN services.

No, it is not just you. It is some terrible combination of netcode, how Console players interact with the game and weapons against PC players, even the setups on some of these Season 4 weapons no matter the attachments are not great.

Speaking of the M4, I have noticed from Season 2 to current 4 they have altered that weapon to the point that outside of 10m the gun is worthless unless you have strong aim assist as a Console player. The same thing is true of multiple weapons that are mid-range capable for Console players but do not have the same characteristics for PC players.
