Meatgrinder Maps

I think I know what I don't like about this game. The maps feel like meatgrinders, constant action, no breathing room. I remember in Battlefield 1 because of how big the maps are, there would be multiple battles scattered across them. You would travel from flag to flag, and you would have breathing room without being constantly shot at. I hope Eastwood is like that.

  • I do agree, a lot of the maps do feel very meatgrindery.
    What doesn't help besides some of the map designs is the fact that at the moment, a lot of people don't seem to understand how much room they have on a lot of different mode configurations, that or they just seem to enjoy throwing their bodies into the fray.
    There have been entire matches thrown 180 because me and a group of people on the same page will do super wide flanks and disrupt the backlines of the meatgrinder area, which is a lot of fun, but also feels a little sad when your squad seems to be the only one with the intuition to do such a move.
    The majority will always pick where ever the most action is and hope to push through, which is certainly fun in a way, but sometimes entire matches will be thrown because everyone auto pilots towards the hot zone.
    I hope in the future maps will take into account where those areas are and some how encourage people to look for other lanes or tactics besides the usual chokes.

  • Ah man BF6 is even putting a bad name to meatgrinder maps at this point.

    The true meatgrinder experience in Battlefield like the map Operation Metro made popular is nothing like what BF6 is offering as “meatgrinders”

    A classic Battlefield meatgrinder is way more sophisticated than that, it’s a tug of war, where flanking is difficult and gotta learn the flow to see the openings in the enemy defences. Notice a red dot on the minimap behind your lines going for the last flag, you double back to take them out.

    Yes the front line is chaotic but it’s very linear and unlike Breakthrough flanking isn’t as easy, you have your own little skirmish in a tunnel somewhere in a much smaller fight.

    You can choose and pick your fights, you can decide what part of the enemy line you want to attack, you can play defence, offence, squash flanks or be the flanker. I believe this dynamic nature of the true BF meatgrinder experience is what made it popular.

    And all the area just behind the front line is a quiet happy place for you to breath and think strategy while you study the map for your next move.

    Battlefield 6 maps are arena maps, danger around any corner, easy and plentiful flank routes with now sense of direction

    I didn't mean to crap on the almighty Operation Metro😅 But like what you said at the about BF6 being arena maps, that's what it feels like; like Call of Duty. The flags are too close to each other and there's constant action, it doesn't feel like there is room to flank or snipe, and it doesn't help that I get put in matches with CoD players who only care about their K/D.
