Physical Phantom Edition Not Available Until Next Week
Ive been so excited for the release of BF6. After the beta, I ordered a physical copy of the Phantom Edition from Best Buy and eagerly waited until yesterday to pick it up.
However, yesterday morning I received an email from Best Buy stating that my order was still not going to be ready for pick up. I didn’t think much of it at first. I started looking on their website to see if any of their nearby stores had the physical phantom edition available. They did not. I then started looking into other retailers (Target, Walmart, GameStop). I was surprised to find that they too did not have any copies of the phantom edition in their inventory. I wasn’t too upset at first, I had work yesterday anyways so I figured maybe I could order a copy to be delivered to my house a day after release (October 11th), but all of the retailers were giving me estimated delivery dates of October 16th.
Long story short, I had to cancel my order and I decided to get a physical copy of just the standard edition for the Xbox series X. Sure, you can say I could’ve just gotten the digital download but I am a huge battlefield fan and I just thought I’d enjoy the nostalgia of picking up the copy and having that disc for a long time.
Im not coming here to gripe. I’m still gonna play the game like crazy. I’m still going to play the objective. I’m just curious. If you’re going to produce a standard edition and a phantom edition and have the opportunity to preorder physical copies, why would the physical copies of the phantom not be available until atleast a week later? I’m hoping maybe I can still upgrade to Phantom within game to reap the rewards while still owning the physical copy like I had originally planned.
