Ping Seeding
I don't know what else it would be called, but there was a group of 4 today who were "ping seeding" to get higher pings in lower ping regions. Based on your SBMM, ping and region is the number one match making determination. No bots were used to start the match, so the region filled quickly.
There are three theories.
- They are using a VPN to increase their latency so the netcode benefits them, much like many others have done in the past in competitive games.
- Start a game as a solo in the region you want to start the game from, and invite/join their game the moment the match starts.
- Both of the above.
This is creating a gap of a 130+ ping between the players in the region. From the start of the game, this was an extreme rarity and the gap was not as significant. You could possibly see a 90 ping from someone, or just a true lagger. There are at least 3 to 4 in nightly games that are running the scoreboards.
It becomes significantly harder to track (are you on them or behind/front of them), and kill these individuals reducing hit registration, processing updates, and response time. Let's not forget the low hertz rate doesn't help.
