Really just a vent post

Ill keep it short.
I dont like sniping in this game.
Doesn't feel good, not good at it, dont enjoy it.

But playing recon up close is very fun. The gadgets can do some cool things in CQC.

But to get the remaining ones, Including the less sniping focused passives. I have to pitch a tent and hope the enemy team doesn't have recons that are just gonna counter snipe me every match, match after match, ALL **bleep** NIGHT.

The 30, 150m+, headshot challenge is awful, and gating the non sniper based stuff behind it is a choice I question. While I bash my head against this challenge, so that I can have the tools I actually want to play with.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk lol

Vent away mate, so many things are very frustrating with the game at the moment.
Class design is definitely one of them for me.  I think they should have put a lot of the passives in the kits instead of base class.  If you're not a Sniper, weapon proficiency doesn't really help.
Even having a repair tool as class gadget on Engineer when you're Anti-Armor is a bit useless - it can be used offensively if you can somehow get close enough without a smoke grenade....and all classes can't have smoke grenades is a mystery.
Maybe they'll look at all this stuff in a year or two.

Maybe it’s just me, but the way this  specific BF game’s set up, IMO it’d make more sense to let everyone build a class with any guns or gadgets they want, then just pick a class perk from Assault, Support, Engineer, or Recon, just with how the game feels.🤔

  • You're absolutely right, OP.

Once again, EA/DICE are encouraging 'recon' to actually be 'sniper' when sniping is the last thing that helps the team or the player themselves.

It's especially dumb when they've forced through the open weapons thing.

There is a ton of frustrating stupid design in the game. This is definitely one aspect.

My two cents on that particular challenge:
    1. Level up a sniper rifle until you unlock the range finder.

    2. Bind the range finder zeroing action to a familiar keybind/button, like the same one you use for holding your breath/focus

    3. Go to Multiplayer/Custom Search and select Breakthrough and Blackwell Fields only. This is the best combo. If you get bored, you can add more maps like Mirak Valley and Operation Sandstorm.

    4. Climb up a hill and look for other snipers doing the same challenge. Take your shot, go prone (so the hill serves you as cover), stand up, and repeat.

    YES! EXACTLY! (I'm PS5 BTW)

Although I mainly play as an Engineer tank driver (I'm an armor plated sniper in a tank) but I also like Recon and pieced enough info together to do the same thing that he is suggesting here!

I have Battle Pass (free when I purchased the Phantom Edition for $99) and I have unlocked a wonderful weapon:

An SV-98 called "Long Memory," (reminds me of my Kar-98 sniper rifle in Battlefield 5) and comes with the works! Eight-power scope, rangefinder, a stubby, mag catch, match grade long-range ammo, (eventually I will trade the stubby and the mag catch for the ADS Bolt), etc. A great weapon! So, I took that weapon out with my Recon guy and started popping off those long distance headshots and winning the battle when another sniper saw me and we had a shootout.. like the Wild West ... and usually I won.

Bind the Range Finder and your Steady Scope and your Zoom to the SAME key or button, point your weapon at a target and it will instantly lock onto the range. Aim slightly below the "Dorito" whether you can see the enemy or not, and pull the trigger. LOVELY! Done and done.
