Recon specialist 1 challenge is bad design and broken.
Recon specialist 1 is yet another example of a bad challenge which encourages bad gameplay. (aside from the fact that it doesn't even work most of the time).
The challenge reads: Spot enemies at objectives with Recon gadgets as Recon. 0/300.
There are two problems with this:
- It simply doesn't register most of the time. I'm careful to spot the enemy using the drone while having the drone positioned directly over the objective area in the minimap (So I can be 100% sure). It only counts about 20% of the time.
- This encourages the player to NOT SPOT the enemies unless they are in the objective area. If the recon player spots them before they enter the objective area, it doesn't give credit and it makes that enemy ineligble for a spot credit later. As enemies are approaching the objective that the recon player's team is defending (conquest or BT defense) they need to intentionaly let the enemy remain hidden until inside the objective area. This is counterproductive for the team but the only way to complete this asinine challenge. This challenge is required to unlock recon gadgets.
