Ripple/Dice PLEASE save portal...
I am a Portal creator, but I am starting to lose my motivation to invest time in it — even though the potential could be enormous.
You have built a wonderful game, but Portal feels like it is slowly bleeding to death.
In the Netherlands we have a saying: “Better well copied than poorly invented.” I strongly encourage the team to take a serious look at Fortnite Creative, which is years ahead in terms of platform design and creator support.
Comparing Fortnite Creative with Battlefield 6 Portal across key areas provides a goldmine of insights into the direction Portal could evolve toward.
Most importantly, please share a clear update on the future of Portal and its long-term support. At the moment, creative players and creators are slowly leaving — and that is a real loss for the Battlefield ecosystem.
And please give it a try and compare the below bullets with Fortnite Creative. I asked ChatGPT the following: "How does Fortnite address the following issues that Battlefield 6 Portal is facing?" Followed by the bullets below (I can't imagine Ripple already did this, but on the other hand I don't understand why it's in this state now...) It gives a goldmine of information:
The main reasons why Battlefield Portal is struggling:
- Portal content is difficult to discover
High-quality community creations are not surfaced effectively, making it hard for players to find and engage with them. - The menu and UI hide Portal
Portal is buried deep within the menus and does not feel like a first-class or central game mode. - Server browser and matchmaking do not work well
Empty lobbies, poor matchmaking flow, and visibility issues make it difficult for players to join Portal experiences. - Portal rules and restrictions limit creativity
Player-count requirements, bot limitations, and progression restrictions discourage both creators and players. - The connection between Portal and progression creates problems
Early XP-farming issues led to heavy restrictions, which hurt Portal’s momentum and long-term appeal. - Technical issues reduce trust and engagement
Stability problems, joining errors, and other technical issues negatively impact the first-time experience.
