SBMM

So, they announced that Battlefield 6 will have SBMM. People will be matched based on ping, server location and skill factor based on gamemode you play.  Atleast that is what they said, and nobody knows exactly how the SBMM system works in Battlefield 6.

It's well known that games like Delta Force and Call of Duty manipulate the outcome of a match. Today I have the exact same feeling with Battlefield 6. Today I have a way different expierence and want even drop the beta at this moment and question if I should buy BF6 to be honest.

I'm only being thrown in matches that are far over and always on the losing team. I had like 4 matches now where we barely couldn't leave our base. In almost no match, we had even 1 flag. And if we had one, it was gone in a eye blink. I'm literally only join matches that are in progress and are far over and on the heavily losing team.

Matchmaking also have increased signifcant, sometimes I'm waiting up to 4 minutes to join a match. Which is also in games like Delta Force after playing a few days. The matchmaking becomes hideous long, and also join in a in progress matches, on the heavy losing team aswell.  This goes on and on and on for like a day. Day after I have like 3 or 4 good matches again and then it  repeats again. A full day of bull**bleep** matches. I'm getting this vibe in Battlefield 6 aswell... How can it be so incosistent compared to yesterday.

That's not all, also the TTK has increased significant compared to yesterday. I don't know if they have more traffic and the servers are barely holding together, or they haven't increased the ticket rate/hz of the servers which I lose certain frames that causes desyncs. But right now BF6 beta is just unfun to play, due these problems.

This feels exactly like Call of Duty and Delta Force after a few days of playing. I just don't understand why developers don't release dedicated servers like old times. I mean, if they say to go back in time with Battlefield 6 gameplay, then where are the dedicated servers? I also hate it that they said to bring back "class locked weapons" but now it suppose to be only a separate gamemode, which didn't even include Breakthrough. So, why would I trust them with their SBMM system or believe what they say about it?

You should ask the question yourself, why do developers heavily push for SBMM while the majority of gamers ask for dedicated servers? Why do the developers need to be in control of what matches you want to join? Why can't we have the dedicated servers back? Gaming was back in the day way more consistent as nowadays.

I do play shooters since begin '90's when I was a child. I never felt such a inconsistent gameplay in recent years. It's so noticeable how the expierence can change each day. I never had this feeling in older games, like the old battlefield, America's Army 1 (later updated to 2) the old Counter Strike. Since all that SBBM crap, games feel way more incosistent.

I agree, i don't like SBMM at all.

This is starting to feel more like CoD than anything else with this SBMM.
Time to go back to your roots EA, and add a server browsing capability again.
It has always been in Battlefield, but since Battlefield 2042 you just ditched it for no reason, and even after so many requests on the BF2042 forums you didn't do anything about it. Very sad and unfortunate.

Give us the freedom of choice to play whatever map we like, at any given time..

It takes really long to find a match sometimes, you may get put in a new match with the same map as the previous one, over and over again.. i see more con's than pro's with having an SBMM system in Battlefield. May work for CoD, but not here.
It's time you stay true to yourself again, and stop copying Call of Duty.

    Hello guys,

Today i felt same as in bo6.  That same sbmm when u destroying 2-3 players then u cant shoot for **bleep** in next 2kill like u have to die to balance it all.

Ok so SBMM doesnt just act as this catch all nefarious evil thing dead set on ruining fun. Nor does any one game really manipulate the outcome. A lot of that comes from the odds API sites tend to share to players. In games the matches on paper are typically gonna be designed to be about 50% chance either way. Looser SBMM means faster matches but more chance at lopsided ones, typically seen in casual modes or larger scale modes (like Battlefield) whereas stricter ones where everyones more equal in skill are gonna usually be locked down to smaller ranked modes or in esports titles.

Matchmaking times honestly are likely not due to any one issue but more than likely that there just arent enough actual game instances running to accommodate the sheer volume of players so its more of a "wait your turn" instead of the game being dead, sucking, evil sbmm, or a tech issue.

Afaik TTK wasnt really touched its like all the same stuff just added more maps/modes this weekend.

The game DOES use dedicated servers you mean third party servers, and theres not much indication of those returning. Lot of folks end up just using matchmaking and often enough in browsers its gonna be weird fringe content that people may not want.

Now back to the SBMM... they push it because its literally been a thing since the dawn of matchmaking through Halo 2 IN 2004. Like LITERALLY been a thing for the entire time for over twenty years. The devs arent controlling you its just ensuring you dont have 100 pubstomps in a row either on the giving or receiving end because that unsurprisingly tends to suck for those on the receiving end and pushes players away killing the game. Give players a fair shake to win and they tend to stick around.

That's odd, since i'm playing shooters since the '90's and when we didn't had matchmaking just only dedicated servers, people tend to stay way longer or even keep coming back to populair servers. You also had different skills combined on one server, so it automatically balance out anyway, you don't need matchmaking for that. It was way more fun back in the day to be honest and I hear this from more older gamers.

I'm coming from Counter-strike when it was still a mod, America's Army 1 (later updated to 2), Medal of Honor Allied Assault, I even played Battlefield 1942 and yet, it was WAY more fun to play these games as games right now. You even had clan wars, you even saw less cheaters and hackers. Sure, back in the day, there were are alot less cheaters and hackers, but when one was active, they got kicked very quickly by the community, very fast. With devs, it takes weeks or sometimes months.

I don't care how long matchmaking is around, I just hate the whole system since they invented this **bleep**. And now you even have SBMM like in Call of Duty and even Delta Force that influence your matches. Enough videos to find, you can even look up Activisions patent, where it specific says that they infleunce the aiming. How higher your skill, how better aim you need. How lower your skill, how more the system helps you with the aim. They also influence ping. It's all in their SBMM patent. They also influence the damage, you can just easily look this up. You can also find those patents very easily.

Yea when there is no server browser, otherwise nah dude. Weird fringe content ? what? It was always better on custom servers where they would ban certain broken things that werent banned/ removed/ nerfed on official servers for unknown reasons. Plus it gives you more flexibility and choice, so I really dont understand the point youre trying the make that is also kinda false.

  • SBMM is in my opinion the best thing you can get.. people seem to not remember that servers had their own balancing system and you would be thrown into another (losing) team quite often in the sake of balance... why should I be punished if x number of my teammates are bad (pure luck but was happening very often) and I won't get the xp i desire and should get it because of my own skill and ..

game servers 64 players+ are to big for one or two or even 5  skilled players to make a diff and win the game(or balance) and get the XP you should get becuase of being good...  SBMM is a must if you wan't to have a balanced game unlike in the open beta where sometimes you have all points capped and the enemy gets locked in on their own spawn where is the fun? Out of all my games a lot of the times the game was strongly one sided and becuase of that I did not lvl as much altough I had 40+ kills and multiple bases captured///
