Season 3 further feedback - Golmud is the only good part.
Season 3 is all about the new map. The map is big, which is good, however I feel that it ends there.
I've ploughed into the new season heavily now, and I feel this single element is the only selling point.
- Vehicles are a big mix. Either invincible or die instantly. It's hard to guage which encounter will lead to which outcome, based on simple regular use. Jets have also been ignored again. Space to fly, but no loadouts or care regarding their use. There's still no aircraft training modes either.
- Team Balancing is somehow worse than it ever has been. A team of mixed lower levels Vs a solid team of 400+. While Golmud's size adds to the time a match takes, all other maps are still a mess of fast paced games that end extremely fast. This has now translated over to casual breakthrough, my shortest match being 8 mins.
- Netcode and Hitreg. Honestly doesn't feel much better than it was. Still plenty of deaths behind solid cover or through walls.
Some of the Golmud Escalation matches are ending pretty fast too, resulting in mass team walkouts early on, which only speeds up the match ending.
While I like the new map, it should've been a new, fresh map rather than a recycled one. Also, there needed to be more of these since the start, as once I'm bored of Golmud, it's back to the tiny roster of maps we had prior.
While I'm sure the Devs are hard at work above on all three elements, we're falling into a very slow, drip feed of content. Here's a single new map. Here's a single new weapon or two. Then a couple of months later, here's a new temporary mode.
It just feels like it's variety hasn't increased as of yet. I'm hoping this improved post S3 as there's still plenty of issues hiding behind the "big new map" that are yet to be acknowledged.
