So Eastwood

I had hope but it was very little

Something wrong with the graphics, it's way too bright, graphics are very flat, a lot of graphic popin, overal looks kinda cartoonish, not gritty at all. But that's been an issue ever since that visibility patch went live, all maps look worse.

The stage looks interesting but it's yet another arena shooter map, 101 angles, any engagement is vs multiple enemies from different directions, people come from random directions there is no rime or reason from where enemies should be coming from. Makes me wanna jump into a vehicle any time I can.

Cap areas are tiny and after 10 seconds has no cover and a few dozen vantage points where people can shoot into the flag from

I had some hope for the C flag on conquest, but it's again tiny, interior not interesting at all, very 2D and very open to the outside.

Where are the massive mansions? That don't crumple after 1 tank has a go at it.

You have this cool open golf course but there doesn't really seem any use for it other than a quick vehicle rush to the back.

Will give it a few more tries for sure, but initial feeling is pretty bad.

    New to BF or?

The beauty of BF is that it's always been wide open with no real dedicated lanes.   Mind your surroundings, as Ra's Al Ghul would say.   Head on swivel.

Not really, played every single one since 1942, they also had vastly slower game pace which helps.

Just look at Aerodrome on BFV as an example, massive center base, 90% of enemies enter from one side, bar a few flankers that made the long and difficult journey around. There are many examples where flags have limited points of entry, or a difficult flank route.

In general bigger map size makes enemy pathing more predictable

Also a lot less clutter in older maps, see enemies sooner and can plan accordingly.
