The CIWS is completely useless

Since the CIWS is completely useless, all fighter jets, attack helicopters, Little Birds, and transport helicopters deployed at headquarters will fall into enemy hands, and the attack helicopters will reduce everything from vehicles to infantry to ashes the moment they appear.
The CIWS is not meant to be manually operated by the user; it exists to automatically defend the headquarters from threats. Therefore, I believe that any enemy aircraft or missiles that penetrate the headquarters area should be eliminated immediately, without exception.
While the capture of vehicles within the combat zone is the user’s responsibility, if the enemy invades the headquarters and seizes vehicles, that is EA’s responsibility, not ours.

p1man0206_OYYB I completely understand your point of view, and honestly I agree with part of it. If vehicles are constantly getting destroyed right after spawning or getting stolen directly from the HQ, then clearly something is going wrong somewhere in the team balance and coordination.

But at the same time, I personally don’t think the HQ should become a completely untouchable safe zone where players can sit with zero pressure or risk. In my opinion, if the enemy is able to push all the way into your HQ and attack vehicles there, that usually means there is already a bigger problem happening on the battlefield. It often means some players are not doing their role properly.

Engineers already have access to anti-air equipment, and on many maps with heavy air presence there is usually mobile AA available as well. At some point, players also need to react and counter what the enemy team is doing instead of relying entirely on HQ protection systems.

Back in BF3 and BF4, situations like this could absolutely happen. Players knew there was always a risk of enemy aircraft or vehicles pushing close to spawn areas, so people stayed alert and adapted. Nowadays, a lot of players stay deep inside the HQ because they know they are fully protected from almost everything.

That said, I do agree there needs to be limits. I’m not saying the enemy should be able to freely farm the HQ without consequences. The goal should be finding a balanced middle ground that prevents abuse from both sides.

    For example:

    - If vehicle stealing is a major issue, DICE could simply make enemy vehicles impossible to enter while they are inside the HQ area.

    - For aircraft getting destroyed immediately during takeoff, maybe planes could receive a very small temporary health boost right after spawning to reduce abuse and give pilots at least a chance to react.

So overall, I think the ideal solution is balance — not total HQ invulnerability, but also not complete freedom for enemies to endlessly camp spawns either.

I fully understand your point of view, and I agree that this would be an ideal adjustment. However, in the Asian region where I play, the enemy team steals aircraft from our base in nearly every match.

This happens in the overwhelming majority of matches.

While the current practice of camping in a fully defended base is certainly a problem, in my opinion, camping at the base is far more tolerable.

Think about it. In an environment where most matches are flooded with Engineers who rarely participate in vehicle combat, the number of enemy aircraft in the air is roughly double what it normally is.

With such overwhelming firepower from the sky, wouldn’t it be impossible for not only outposts but also MBTs, IFVs, and infantry that have just spawned at the home base to survive for more than a few seconds after spawning?

Honestly, back in the BF3 and BF4 days there was no automatic CIWS protecting the HQ and it was never really a major problem. Attacking the enemy HQ or trying to steal a vehicle was actually part of the Battlefield sandbox back then.

I agree that getting your vehicle stolen is frustrating, but successfully infiltrating an enemy HQ and stealing a vehicle is also not something easy or very common. In my opinion, the CIWS should work more like the older Battlefield games where players could manually operate it.

One possible compromise could be making the CIWS automatic only when nobody is using it, but significantly weaker than it is now. That way, it would still discourage people from completely farming an HQ, while allowing small tactical attacks when enemy vehicles stay inside the spawn area to abuse the current protection system.

I also think the CIWS destroying incoming projectiles should be removed or heavily reduced. Right now it encourages players to camp safely inside their spawn while being almost untouchable.

The goal should be balance: make it possible to pressure or attack the enemy HQ occasionally, but without allowing one player to completely dominate and massacre an entire spawn area.

  • The HQ AA has been terrible since the past few updates. Sometimes it works, other times it's asleep.
