getting those unlocks DOESN'T translate into you dominating in MP.
You may be talking about it being a red herring, but I'll say that your position is somewhat of a straw man. I think a more reasonable position is to mention that it gives you a decisive advantage. So even if you don't dominate, you'd still play better than if you didn't have those attachments. It's a simple fact that many of the most powerful attachments like thermal sights, suppressors, or grips without ADS accuracy penalties are often locked until you reach a higher level. I don't think that really matters as much at this point though, because people have had time to get their unlocks by now, but it certainly did matter in the first few weeks after the game came out.
Then there's another issue related to what I'd call "prestige" challenges. It's the challenges that are really difficult, where you unlock some kind of skin that you can use to show off to other players. Regardless of whether you personally care about that sort of thing, there are certainly people that do. Having those challenges be accessible by defeating bots, devalues that aspect of the challenge.

It only gives you an advantage over those who do not have that equipment yet. It doesn't give you any advantage over those who do have it. And if all can boost to get it... then it is an equal playing field. If only those who are good or have time can get them... unequal. In short - you are proving my point.
Regarding the skins - I see your point there and wouldn't mind them creatively blocking off those more cosmetic things from being earned through portal at all. That actually makes a lot of sense. Let us unlock weapon attachments and core gameplay items any way we want... and save the harder non-boostable challanges for the cosmetics.- ghostflux2 hours agoSeasoned Ace
Am I proving your point? Sure, but that's because we partially agree with each other and partially disagree. Where we disagree is that you're arguing that people should boost to create an equal playing field as opposed to just legitimately playing the game. That invalidates the reason for there to be a progression system.
Practically speaking, not everyone is going boost. Yet that's exactly what exacerbates the potential gap between players. Players may not progress at the same pace due to time constraints, but that's still a much smaller gap than having a player with few unlocks play against a boosted player who has everything unlocked. Especially if you consider how the progression was much slower in the first few weeks than it is now.
