The problem with DMRs in BF 2042 is that you always have the feeling like "I want to shoot faster", because even if it's supposed to be better at range, you still end up in a DPS battle that you're quite likely to lose if you make a single mistake with your aiming/recoil control. Yet if you shoot too fast, your recoil does not get the chance to reset.
The primary reason for this wasn't just the high recoil itself, but also the speed at which the recoil decreases over time. The only advantage DMRs in BF 2042 offered was that spread was relatively a non-issue compared to previous titles.
So, It requires a very disciplined cadence that depends on your range to the target, to optimize both your accuracy at range and your DPS. In other words, it's too difficult and error prone compared to most of the other weapons in the game. It's a weapon that sort of works for really high-skill players, but tends to feel absolutely terrible in the hands of everyone else.
Guns like the AC-42 or AN-94 are better and more reliable DMRs within the 75-100 meter range that DMRs are supposed to be best at. Yes, assault rifles still lose out at longer ranges, but at those ranges, you're better off picking a sniper rifle like the SWS-10.
My suggestion would be to slightly increase the spread increase per shot, but in turn improve the recoil decrease over time.
