Battlefield 6 Disabling WiFi Drivers
I've been having this issue with Battlefield 6 on and off for the last few months. I'll describe it as follows
I'll launch BF6. The game will load and open to menu as normal. From there the menu and game work perfectly fine. However after 5-10 minutes after launching my PC will start freezing up, my WiFi drivers will completely break, after which my PC will either stop freezing and work perfectly fine apart from not being able to connect to WiFi or it will reboot itself. This will happen whether I'm sitting at the menu or actively in a match.
I have tried
- Validating game files (they've come back clear every time)
- Reinstalling the game (on the same drive and a different drive)
- Running the game with nothing else open
- Reinstalling the anticheat
- Updating and reinstalling GPU drivers
- Updating and reinstalling WiFi drivers
- Updating and reinstalling BIOS drivers
- Putting an 80% power limit on my GPU
- Clearing the map files
- Attempting to launch the game in DX11 (which failed to launch the game at all)
- Disabling EXPO
My CPU and RAM only hit around 60% utilization while in a match, while my GPU hits about 80% but maintains 70° temps. I typically run medium-high graphics and when the game works I get about 80-120 FPS depending on what's happening in game. Reinstalling the anticheat seems to have stopped the freezing and rebooting, but it still kills my WiFi drivers.
My specs are as follows
- Ryzen 7 7800X3D with an MSI MAG A13 240 and Thermal Grizzly Duronaut paste
- RTX 2080 Ti
- 32gb G.Skill Flare X5 DDR5
- MSI X870 GAMING PLUS WIFI
- ~800w PSU (I can't remember the brand or model off the top of my head but it's a fully modular PSU, probably from Thermaltake or MSI if I had to guess)
- The drive I'm running it on is a Samsung 970 EVO Plus
All my parts are less than a year old, minus the GPU which I got used and the SSD which is a couple years old but I bought it new.
I don't have any performance issues in any of the other games I play such as R6 Siege, War Thunder, and Forza Horizon 6. Battlefield 6 will have spans of a few weeks where it will work perfectly fine for hours at a time, and then out of nowhere start doing this again.
Because this only happens with Battlefield 6, and that my hardware seems to run the game perfectly fine when it isn't wanting to kill my WiFi drivers, I can only assume it's either an anticheat thing or just the game itself, but I've exhausted basically everything I can think to do other than reinstalling Windows which I really don't want to do. I'm kind of at a loss of what the issue could be, so hopefully someone here can help me out. I'll try to provide any additional information necessary if what I have here isn't enough.
