BF6 not launching

My issue has been swept up in a variety of driver based issues, so I'm having another go.

Since June 7th (after a small ~280MB patch to BF6) I have been unable to launch the game through Steam. The anticheat splash window pops up, does it's normal things, then disappears and the Steam "play" button goes back to play.

Checking the Windows Application event logs I have the attached error (it's always been this error).

If I install REDSEC in the EA app the game launches, so this specifically is an issue with the Steam version of the game.

I have performed the following:

  • Up/downgraded my AMD GPU drivers
  • Upgraded my BIOS firmware
  • Uninstalled Anticheat (completely, as admin, etc)
  • Uninstalled Steam BF6 + reinstalled (as admin, etc)
  • Enabled/Disabled various Exploit Protection settings specifically for BF6.exe & EAAntiCheat.GameService.exe
  • I've been though so many support options with EA Support (Case# 248731113)

I'm running Windows 10, MS recently extended ESU (Extended Support) through to the end of October 2027, so the OS is still supported (I enrolled in it). However given REDSEC runs through the EA app, I don't believe my OS is the cause of the problem anyway, but obviously I have no way to prove this.

Thanks for any help.

    Hi EA_Salmon

I've performed all these steps but sadly no change.
I've killed a bunch of background services by killing tray icons as well as sorting services.msc by automatic, and stopping ones that are related to third party products.
I'm still getting the same event log error.

I've attached a new dxdiag that hopefully shows the current state of my services.
For your step "perform a clean boot...." I did close Argus monitor for that test, however the new dxdiag might show that currently running - I use this to manage my fan speeds.

Regarding the AMD GPU driver, yes, at the time of yesterdays dxdiag I was running a slightly older version as I'd read somewhere that someone had success by uninstalling the Adrenalin component of the AMD GPU suite, I assumed the installer I was using to reinstall just the GPU drivers was a current one but as you see it wasn't. I realised that when I re-installed Adrenalin last night.

Thanks for your attention to this, have a good weekend.

    Hi P3wP3w_no_QQ,

Thanks for the detailed report and for attaching your DxDiag.

The Event Viewer entry confirms that bf6.exe is closing with 0xC0000005. Your DxDiag also shows recent crashes involving EA Background Service, EA Desktop, EA Launch Helper, and EA Launcher with the same exception code, so this may involve the EA App or launch process rather than only the graphics driver or Javelin.

Could you please try the following:

    • Clear the EA App cache.
    • Completely uninstall and reinstall the EA App.
    • Repair or reinstall the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables.
    • Perform a clean boot and temporarily close overlays, RGB software, Oculus services, Logitech G Hub, and other background tools.
    • Verify the Steam game files again after reinstalling the EA App.
    • Remove any custom Exploit Protection overrides you created for BF6 and Javelin, then return them to Windows defaults.

Your AMD display driver shown in the DxDiag also appears to be an older build, so please confirm you are currently using the latest driver available for the RX 9070 XT.

Thanks again for documenting everything you’ve already tried.

Hopefully, this helps narrow the issue down to the Steam-to-EA launch process.
