I've been thoroughly enjoying the game lately, but recently it's become more of an issue that I get matchmade into lobbies with like 6 real players on each team on conquest and the rest being bots. This is even though when I back out and restart matchmaking, I find multiple different lobbies on the same gamemode with similar player counts.
In the evenings, there are enough players in South Africa to make a couple of full servers, but they're being separated into different lobbies. The maps in each of these lobbies might be different, but the gamemode is the same.
At this point, the matchmaking might very well lead to an early grave for this game in low-pop regions, as no one except boosters wants to play against solely bots.
Portal mode might be the saving grace here, but at the moment, the global quota is constantly exceeded by the myriad of bot farming and aerial practice servers. On launch day, there was an SA server on Portal with a queue consistently 10 players long.
There are enough players here to fill the servers, but either the matchmaking needs to be fixed, or the Portal server scene needs to be thoroughly cleaned up of bot farms. Obviously, a progression system tweak would also disincentivize people from bot farming.
