Can't Play Past Start Menu

Before my rant, I am playing on PC via steam and meet all of the system requirements to play the game.

Since the RedSec update, I can't play this game at all except for staring at the menu. If I dare attempt to load in to a game, my computer completely freezes, crashes the game, black screens me, and locks me out of being able to do anything at all on my computer, forcing me to restart my computer with the power button.

This has been an issue since launch, but I could usually get about 3 games in before a crash. Now I can't get past the menu without a crash. I have updated my bios, turned off overclocking, updated drivers, re-installed the game countless times, verified files countless times (always with 3 files failing), decreased my graphics settings, updated security mesures (aka: removing them so the game has zero restrictions)...nothing is working. There has to be something so tremendiously wrong with this game that the software is not working. Can this multi-billion dollar company figure out how to fix this game for PC users? I got to pay for the battlepass, and then crash. I haven't been able to do anything on the game, but sure...take more of my money. I already paid you over $100 to stare at the menu. What's more for the battlepass???

Does anyone have a true, real solution for this? Or are we going to wait 6 months before anyone from EA cares enough to even look at the issues we are having? (Can't wait to see if someone from EA responds to this.)

Thanks in advance, all.

  • Hi, first of all it may be a cpu crash due to overloading, even those with high end CPUs have been getting the cpu to max out while in bf6, for me it only happened after season 1 started, if you search cpu crash in bf6 there's a few 1000000 videos on how to fix it, mine went from 100% usage to 70% max after it,

Yes all the videos are the same no need to worry each game bf has had in the past its been the same issue

Hey there. Can you upload a DXDiag? We can check it for any issues. There are instructions for this here. Thanks!

Thank you. Try updating your graphics drivers. When installing them, uncheck the option for GeForce Experience and NVIDIA HD Audio.

If you have any overlays like MSI Afterburner, Discord, EA App, etc, disable those.

You have several audio devices. Disable all but the one that is your preferred output.

Give these a shot and let me know what happens.

I reinstalled the current, most up to drivers. Turned off audio devices. Turned off all overlays. Booted the game, compiled shaders, attempted to load in to a game, and it crashed my entire PC again sending me back to the main boot and start up.

Thank you for the link to the video. I followed these steps and nothing changed. Still crashed on start up.

    Here are some more suggestions:

    • You have two Monitors with Mixed HDR / MPO Support. Duplicate the second monitor
    • Disable HAGS and HDR, then reboot. If this works, you'll need to wait for an update from NVIDIA re-enable it
    • You're using an insider build of Windows. Try using a production version
    • You still have too many audio devices enabled. You disable all but the one in use
    • Temporarily disable G-Sync/FreeSync
    • Reinstall your GPU driver. You could also try installing a previous version
