EA response to Error 1:85009S (Multiplayer disconnections on Steam-PC)

Thought I would share what EA support sent me:

I just double checked with my team on this. Evidently, this is an on-going issue with the game at the moment. Just like you, hundreds of thousands of players are also impacted by the same situation.

Good news is our game teams are on it. They're literally working on a fix as we speak. It won't be long before this gets taken care. Once that happens, this'll be resolved not just for you but for all affected players. Good news is our game teams is aware of and working to fix issue for all impacted players. I would request you to wait while team is working to fix issue for all impacted players and I hope it won't be long before this gets taken care. Once that happens, this'll be resolved not just for you but for all affected players.

This was on Oct. 22, 2025 btw.

    Looks like it could be a firewall issue. I was avoiding tracking of UDP packets through my firewall. It seems if these packets are getting intercepted it will cause the game to fail connecting. Bit stupid and I wish the game would've told me exactly what failed to connect (even a log file) but at least I can play now.

    For others looks like Cloudflare WARP might help. That's what got me thinking. Gotta be something on the firewall/local network.

    Yeah so much for this being fixed. Tried to play at 5am AEST today couldn't log in. Spent over an hour trying with no luck. Now trying again at 7:30pm and still cannot log in. I don't have much free time to play so I quite like my games to work when I do have time.

    Anyone from EA around to give us some ideas for troubleshooting? I used to work in IT but f knows what I need to do to diagnose a connection error for a video game.

  • just started to get this error message now 5 mins into games and it gives me this message  so much for fixing it 

  • Seriously since the last update I haven't been able to play longer than 5-10 mins before disconnecting. It's always during a firefight with someone. When I am getting the upper hand. This is a show stopping bug. It should be the only priority, and a patch should be made immediately.
