My FPS Dropped From 150s to 30-70 after latest update

Hi EA,

After the new updated I have had a severe FPS drop where I had 150 FPS to like 30 - 70 FPS per game regardless of map.

My Rig

GPU - RTX 5080 Laptop GPU - with a VRAM of 16 GB GDDR7
CPU - Intel(R) Core (TM) Ultra 9 275HX (2.70 GHz)
RAM - 32 BS SODDIM (16x2) 5600 MT/S
Storage - Crucial P3 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 Internal SSD 2280 - PCIe 4.0 - Up to 5,000MB/s Read - Up to 4,200MB/s Write

I play the game in 1090 x 1080 res and used to consistently get 150 FPS plus in Ultra/Overkill

Since the 2nd last update my game would keep crashing on startup and would only work if I repaired the game on the EA App.

and Now Since The last update my FPS has been locked to 60 - 70 FPS

Additionally, I have noticed that my GPU usage has significantly dropped and my CPU usage has massively increased. I am not using Frame Gen nor am I using DLAA or DLSS nor do I use VSYNC. Even with the overkill feature I only have Mesh Details on overkill everything else used to be Ultra or High. Ensuring that my CPU doesn't get bottlenecked, but it still did.

Then I tried to move everything to high and medium setting at the same resolution without using Frame Gen, DLAA, DLSS or VSYNC. And it is still stuck in 30 - 70 FPS.

I have repaired the game, reinstalled the game, reinstalled my NVDIA Driver and tried to troubleshoot using the EA discussion pages (specifically mentioning the frame limiter in menu and in game. Tried that trick didn't work).

Can you please get back to ASAP on the above I am completely frustrated with this now. Every update it seems the performance of BF6 on my rig keep deteriorating and I know it isn't my rig as I can easily play the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA V enhanced, Kingdom Come Deliverance and Assassin's Creed Mirage on a ultra/high setting in 1080p and it keep a good 100 fps for all without using excessive amounts of CPU and GPU (usually used between 45% - 80% for both).

Lastly, for your reference I have attached a PNG file with my rig when I was playing BF6 and the lows are when I turned the game off.

If you could please look into this immediately.

  • Thanks god i'm not alone! Dont worry, you are not alone too!

    This is my Rig:
    RTX 5060 TI 16GB
    AMD Ryzen 5 7500F
    RAM: 16GBx2 (32GB) DIMM 6000 MT/s
    SSD: M.2 NVMe WD Blue SN5000 500GB

Before the update i had like 98-100% GPU Usage all the time without big drops. Now i have like 88-98% GPU Usage. Mostly 94-98% GPU Usage but often with drops into the 80's (88-94% depending on situation). I had like 120-135 FPS all the time without drops under 100. Now i have 110-120 FPS often with drops to 89-99 FPS and staying there for some seconds depending on situation. CPU Usage got up to 85-100% from like 60-80%, great...

So that means they did something in this update that is more CPU intensive. Not really more GPU intensive but CPU. So Everything worse than AMD Ryzen 5 7500f (Ryzen 5 7500f included) will make your experience CPU bound now...

I already thought my drivers are broken or i've got something bad on my computer, but nope. It's just EA/Dice making the game runs worse than before.

And i can't help you btw. Forgot that to say. I dont have any fixes or something. The best thing i can tell you is: Just put some CPU intensive settings down (Search for videos explaining each setting) and then you should be get more FPS.

I hope i helped you with that. Greetings from germany! 👍

You're using a PC...game is not set up for a PC.  In fact, game is anti-optimized for PC to give console players an advantage....aim assist, low bloom, low/no recoil, netcode advantages, etc.

I'm really sorry you're struggling.  I truly am.  However, please know that EA/Dice doesn't seem to care.  They appear to be catering to consoles and appear to not care about any cheats that consoles might be using (ie; Chronus being the most well-known option...there are others out there though...XIM Apex, GIMX, etc. being some of the other popular options).

Anyway, as a MNK player, you're at a disadvantage and must compensate for the extra stuff that controller players receive.  You have to be quicker....more precise...and somewhat luckier than a controller/console player.  Also, you better have a fresh clip and "hope" you get the drop on them....otherwise, you're dead...DED.

I have a laptop with a 4060 and a 13700HX Intel...I get over 120FPS (albeit mostly at "Low" settings), for you to get what you're getting is unacceptable...you should be getting very good FPS's.

Side note, not much difference between Low and High from what I can tell.

Sadly, the Beta ran a thousand times better than this atrocity that is the current version.  I can only postulate that the devs did something to make the game better for consoles (at the expense of PC's)...just my thought though....

  • Quick Updated Everyone!

I attached my laptop to my MSI monitor and it seems to have restored the FPS back to 80-100. But somehow my lag has now increased.

Thank you all for your support I really appreciate it. Love the community here.

EA/DICE, we Battlefield fans have been incredibly loyal to this franchise, and the community overwhelmingly wants the unique experience that only Battlefield delivers—something that sits between a mil-sim like Hell Let Loose or Arma and an arcade FPS like COD or Fortnite. Battlefield has always been strongest on PC, and while I understand the push for inclusivity through cross‑play with consoles, the current balance feels off.

Right now, console players benefit from extremely strong aim assist, and it’s affecting the experience for PC players. Maybe consider reducing those assist values. Back on my PS2 playing Killswitch (yes, an ancient example), the aim assist was minimal, and players actually had to learn the mechanics. The current level of assistance feels like spoon‑feeding, especially for players who will likely move on as soon as the next COD drops. Many of us on PC care deeply about Battlefield in a way that the majority of console players simply don’t—though of course not every console player fits that description.

The imbalance is ruining the fun. Getting instantly melted across an entire map by someone on console—like on Siege of Cairo during Breakthrough, where you can be dropped in 2–3 shots by a KORD 6P67 from the far end of the main road—is incredibly frustrating. Cross‑play shouldn’t mean PC players get punished for choosing mouse and keyboard.

HONESTLY MISS THE DAYS OF BATTLEFIELD 1! That was peak battlefield! Everything is going downhill since.

  • I can confirm this; since the last update, the game has been running terribly, and you're not alone. Constant FPS drops, and I didn't make any changes until a couple of days ago to see if updating to DLSS 4.5 would fix it, but it's still the same.

And I've paused Windows updates because they've been awful lately!

    I have a 5070TI here.
