Packet losses in large scale BF6 modes

I have terrible packet losses in large scale BF6 modes (like in escolate and breakthrough). My TN goes up to 800+ms. But it happens specifically in large scale modes. In modes like redsec or rush everything is good. I checked my internet connection, switched to cable ethernet, updated drivers, flushed dns, changed dns servers to google (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and everything that is usually recommended for fixing packet losses, but nothing helped. Can you help me soplve and understand if this is a problem on my end, or maybe a BF6 servers after all
will be forever gratefull, thanks!

(I'm playing from Italy)

  • Same here. What bothers me the most is that none of my five friends have this problem, and if they do, it's only for seconds and doesn't affect the gameplay.

    I have rtx 3070, 16 RAM, AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS

In contrast to the OP my performance is inversely related to the ping, if I have a 6-8ms ping then there is no point in starting the match as my shots will not register and I am dead before seeing the enemy.  If I join a server with 20-24ms ping, much better hit registration and I don't get shot around the corner.  25 years playing FPS games and I have never witnessed low ping being a disadvantage before.

FYI for clarity, I have a fibre FTP connection, 1gbps connection, 13900k, 4080 super, 144fps, £2.5k for a gaming rig and £50 per month for a solid internet connection and BF6 is the only game that runs and performs like canine poop.

Again FYI, BF4, runs amazing, BF1 runs amazing, and Delta Force runs like a dream.  I have no issues with bullet registration with any of them.  I have a better gaming experience with east coast BF4 servers with a 90ms ping than I have with BF6 on 7ms ping.

Surely this has to be broken right?

  • megatrosimus CPU and simulation (SIM) framerate is below 60fps. This is causing time nudge (TN) to spike. You can read more about what time nudge is in the link below.

I will help you troubleshoot your CPU performance issue. Please download HWiNFO and post a screenshot of your System Summary.

megatrosimus everything in your HWiNFO system summary looks good. Memory is running in dual channel mode and at a high frequency.

The CPU is having trouble keeping the framerate over 60fps. This is what's causing time nudge to spike and leading to network lag.

You can limit the framerate to 30fps in BF6 graphics settings to prevent time nudge (TN) from spiking.

I'd graph CPU temperature in HWiNFO and see how hot the CPU is getting while gaming. If the CPU gets close to 100°C it will thermal throttle and lower it's speed to prevent overheating.

  • Okay, thanks!
do i nuderstand right, that i had to run HWiNFO separately, or i needed to run on the background it with Battlefield6 on?

megatrosimus run HWiNFO in the background while gaming. Then alt + tab to switch from the game to HWiNFO and look at the graph.

Yo! I hope you had great holidays!

After yo advised to lower my fps, everything worked great, but then it started to rise TN again sometimes. I checked the temerature as yo suggested.

megatrosimus thank you, I hope you had a great holiday too!

There's some CPU thermal throttling occuring but I can't tell how much the CPU clock frequency is lowering in the screenshot. You can try increasing the CPU fan speed and see if that helps.

The CPU might not be able to keep up and capping the framerate to 30fps might be the only option to prevent time nudge (TN) from increasing.

I've seen some people report capping the framerate to 40fps might work as well.
