The issue with buying EA games on Steam is that causes the game to have double digital rights management (DRM). The game will have Steam DRM and EA DRM.

It's best to buy EA games through the EA app.

Check to see if your Steam account is linked to your EA account. Hopefully that will fix the connection issue.
