Closing BF1 is causing PC to hard restart..

There are numerous threads across various websites discussing this issue, but unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a solution yet.

I'm experiencing the same issue with BF5, but it only occurs when launching the game. No other games are affected by this problem. No BSOD, no error, just a hard reboot on pc.

I've tried reinstalling both games and repairing/reinstalling the anti-cheat, but the issue persists. A solution would be greatly appreciated, as I'd rather not have to refund both games..

Same, hopefully EA takes notice how much they f**ked up the current update to the point it hard reboots PC's when launching or exiting the game, I've been flooding them with reports, hopefully they roll out a patch.

  • same thing... i can only play bf 3/ 4 and titanfall since they all don't have any of these anticheat installs..

  • Add another to the list.  I've tried all the solutions, short of a complete reinstall of Windows, which I refuse to do.  My system runs smooth as butter otherwise.

It's just garbage coding in the EA anti-cheat.  Dollars to donuts there is a memory leak at the kernel level which will result in these kinds of issues.  Seen it before.  Use the wrong type for a variable and boom, memory corruption, undefined behavior, security vulnerabilities, system crashes, performance degradation, etc.

It's way too prevalent for me to accept that reinstalling Windows is the solution.  It's egregious for them to even suggest that as a solution given the sheer volume of complaints.

EA just needs to get their **bleep** together, and the sooner the better.

Having a sale on a game that crashes and jeopardizes peoples systems is a great way to tank their reputation.  Well done EA.  Well done indeed.  Please find some competent developers or just abandon the anti-cheat altogether.

Here I am thinking my GPU is broken because it's a brand new 5080. I only have system crash after closing BF1, not while playing it or in any other game or application.

Since these games are fairly outdated, should I expect an update to resolve the issue, or is it something that might never get fixed?

That's not outdated but straight up broken. Because they are implementing kernel anti-cheat that causes the system to crash instead of anti-cheat that actually works and is not a malware-like gimmick. We should have the right to get a full refund if they screw up this badly with perfectly working games.

  • What they should do is just remove the anti-cheat for the time being until they actually identify and fix the issue.  I'm sure the vast majority would rather just deal with cheaters in the meantime rather than having a game that crashes their PC, making us not want to load it up at all.  From what I hear from more experienced players, it's not doing much to stop cheaters atm anyway.

It's incredibly easy to replicate so I'm not sure what the hold up is.  Plus I've already made a well educated suggestion as to what the issue could be.  Does anyone from EA read these?  Have they even released a statement?  All I see is suggestions from low level lackeys telling people to try a bunch of useless things and then reinstall Windows.  **bleep** poor handling of the issue so far.
