DS4Windows Detected as Cheat

I need to report a bug. As a longtime BF1 player, I am extremely disappointed to say that I logged on recently and found that the new anticheat detects DS4Windows as cheat software. The message that I am greeted with is attached below. This ultimately means that I can no longer play my game, as the controller is the peripheral I use to do so.

This is the only game that I have ever played which flags this mainstream program as malicious. I am sure it's just an oversight, but a timely fix would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know when I can expect a resolution.

Hey folks, both ElliotLH & danisoff are correct here and as such I have marked ElliotLH 's response as the solution as their information is correct.

The use of this program is not permitted by EA Anticheat, this is intentional and not a false positive.

As there is nothing further to be done here I will be closing this thread off.

    danisoff

He has explained nothing in detail. That's why I'm following up. If you don't have anything substantive to add to the discussion leave it to those of us who do.

    Hello JohnBillington,

I marked the case as solved, as there’s nothing further to add or do. The program in question is not permitted, and using it could result in a game ban.

ElliotLH  has explained everything in detail already.

DS4Windows does not convert keyboard/mouse input into controller input. Even if it did it would be more of a disadvantage to the person using it that way.

It's possible to use controller emulators to give mouse players aim assist.

ElliotLH Why was my case marked solved?

Explain to me your understanding of how DS4Windows gives you an advantage over other players. I can clear up any misconceptions you may have.

EA have a bespoke anti-cheat, so you won't be able to use these emulators for any EA game that uses EA Javelin. Other companies may allow them, but EA do not since they can be used to gain an unfair advantage over other players.

That just doesn't check out. No other game detects this as cheat software, and I play a lot of them.

  • Hi JohnBillington,

This isn't an oversight and is intentional. Unfortunately, DS4Windows isn't allowed by the anti-cheat as it was being used by people to gain an unfair advantage. It's the same with another emulator called reWASD.

I'm not a PC gamer, but I understand that the Steam overlay can be used for button mapping, so that may be an option for you. However, I'm not certain as I don't have direct experience.
