Protected rivalries when changing conferences

So if you realign the conferences these protected rivalries are useless unless I'm missing something. It's not really protecting rivalries, it's really just locking a couple of games for your schedule in conference each season.

That's not really protecting rivalries. Is there a way around this?

I wish it carried over. I like to build a small school up and then move them up to the bigger conferences. I was hoping this would allow me to keep previous rivalries on the schedule but I guess I'll just try to do it manually then.

Protected rivalries are for conferences, in CFB25, as the seasons progessed there would be years where Ohio St and Michigan didn't play each other unless they were in the same division. It's for those conference rivalries like Bama/Auburn, UF/UGA, etc.. it's only inter-conference.

I mean I could but I thought the point of protected rivalries was so I didn't have to do that. Maybe I misunderstood their purpose.

  • Is the team you want to play in your conference? If they are not in your conference you should be able to schedule the game as a non conference opponent.
