Game Crashes in Any Mode

College Football 27 PC – Crash Summary for EA Support

Platform: EA App
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
Issue: Game crashes on the black-and-white College Football 27 flag load screen when starting any match (Play Now, Dynasty, or Road to Glory). Often shows DirectX error:
E_OUTOFMEMORY ("Direct3D could not allocate sufficient memory to complete the call.")
GPU listed as NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, Driver 61742.

What happens:
I can get into the main menu and navigate modes. When I try to start a game (after selecting teams/uniforms in Play Now or Dynasty, or starting a high school game in Road to Glory), the flag load screen appears, then the game freezes or crashes back to the EA App. This happens in every mode.

Troubleshooting steps already tried:

  1. Updated NVIDIA drivers (multiple times, including clean installs after Windows updates).
  2. Disabled NVIDIA Overlay.
  3. Set the game to High Performance in Windows Graphics Settings.
  4. Unplugged controller and used keyboard/mouse.
  5. Unplugged extra monitor.
  6. Lowered all graphics settings to Low (Texture Quality, Cutscenes, etc.), capped FPS at 60, and used Fullscreen.
  7. Cleared / disabled NVIDIA shader cache (set to Disabled, then re-enabled to Unlimited/Driver Default).
  8. Repaired Visual C++ Redistributables (both x64 and x86).
  9. Repaired the game through the EA App.
  10. Uninstalled and reinstalled the game (installed on C: drive).
  11. Restarted PC multiple times before attempting to load matches.
  12. Tried Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B (graphics driver reset) during the flag screen.
  13. Closed background programs to free VRAM.
  14. Confirmed game is installed on the C: drive.
  15. Windows is fully updated (26H2).

Result:
None of the above fixed the crash. The game still dies on the flag load screen in Play Now, Dynasty, and Road to Glory, frequently with the DirectX E_OUTOFMEMORY error.

Request:
The game is effectively unplayable. I would like a refund or assistance resolving the persistent match load-screen crash.

  • Update: the game is working now.

After following the steps you recommended (including the DDU clean driver install, unenrolling from the Windows Insider Program, disabling HAGS, turning off overclocks/overlays and moving to the stable Windows 11 26H2 build, etc.), the match load-screen crashes were still happening with the same DirectX E_OUTOFMEMORY error.

What finally fixed it after all the step you recommended as well, was freeing up system memory and increasing the page file:

    • Uninstalled several large games to free RAM.
    • Increased the virtual memory / page file size in Windows (it’s now showing ~34 GB available).

After those changes, Play Now, Dynasty, and Road to Glory all load past the flag screen and run without the crash. I’m on the stable Windows 11 26H2 build (26300.9711) with the RTX 3060.

Thank you for the detailed steps and for looking at the DxDiag and crash dumps. Appreciate the help.

Chaffee11 Hey, can you attach a DxDiag report?

If there are crashes in any mode, then there should be logs here: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\CrashDumps

    thanks!

    Thanks for the reply.

I've attached a DxDiag report and a zip of the relevant crash dumps from C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\CrashDumps.

The dumps included are the three EAAntiCheat.GameServiceLauncher.exe files from 10/13/2026 (around 6:03-6:23 PM), which match when I was troubleshooting the crashes.

Chaffee11 Hey, appreciate the files. So, there are a few things happening here. There are some Windows issues, game issues, and anti-cheat issues. One thing I did see was that you are on the Windows Insider Preview. I would turn that off.

From the files, here are the steps I would start with.

    • Repair Game Files: This will restore the missing EAAntiCheat.GameServiceLauncher.dll file from the error logs
    • Add Antivirus Exclusions: Open Windows Defender or your third-party antivirus, check your quarantine folder to restore any blocked CFB27 files, and add the main game installation directory (C:\Program Files\EA Games\EA SPORTS College Football 27\) to your antivirus exception list.
    • Reinstall EA Anti-Cheat
    • Run as Administrator: Right-click the EA app (or Steam) launcher icon and select Run as Administrator before launching.

Windows and GPU Fixes (DxDiag & LiveKernelEvent 141): 👈This is from your Windows Error Report.

    • Roll Back Windows Insider Build
    • Enable Secure Boot
    • Clean Install GPU Drivers: Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in Windows Safe Mode to completely wipe your old graphics drivers, then do a clean install of the latest NVIDIA Game Ready Driver.
    • Disable Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS)
    • Turn Off Overclocks & Overlays
