Hey, try running Origin as admin, and please check that your firewall/ Antivirus aren't interfering with the install process.

Perhaps if they have been created, you can run the DXSETUP file directly from C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Command and Conquer Red Alert 3\__Installer\directx\redist

I just reinstalled my games after a restore and format and was running into this issue.  I temporarily disabled the Virus Shield on AVAST 2015 and it worked like a charm.   David, you should try to push the AV answer out to all of the EA forums where folks continue to experience this issue.  Thanks.

  • Worked like a charm after I messed with my anti-viurs settings.  I am also using Avast 2015 and just changed it into silent/gaming mode and that seemed to do the trick for me.  Thanks for the idea.

Definitely an Anti-Virus issue.  I have Kaspersky 2016, had to close it completely and the game would install without issues.

  • I tried everything listed and I still get this error. Is there anything else I could do to fix this?

@skr8blazin Thanks for posting your fix, conflicts with Anti-virus software can often be a factor on PC.

    Cheers!

  • Having this problem with Generals. Ran as administrator, tried updating Directx seperately, no disabled antivirus, no joy... just the same error. Windows 7 as well.

Super old thread I know, but delete origin and then download it again, but this time download the technical preview version of origin.

Old thread same issue. Purchased new pc running win 11 pro. Installed EA app showing my games in in Library. Download process  takes me to 43% then subject error shows up. Clearing cache does not solve issue Re downloading gets me to same freeze point. DirectX 12 up to date. Worked fine in old pc win10 2 days ago.
